This is the letter that I was referring to. I ripped it from an old thread that I had started about this topic. Unfortunately, I did not note in the old thread which VJer had posted it. Anyway, here it is:

Some U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) customers may

receive a

receipt or transfer notice from the CSC for cases they filed with local

District

Offices in the USCIS Eastern Region or with the National Benefits Center.

This

is occurring because, in the context of backlog elimination, some cases that

are

unlikely to require an interview have been transferred from district offices

with longer backlogs to the CSC where there is greater existing

adjudications

capacity. These transfer notices reflect receipt by the CSC of a case that

has

been transferred there to be adjudicated, rather than original receipt of

the

case by USCIS. For newly filed cases, customers may receive their first

receipt

notice from the CSC, rather than the National Benefits Center or the

District

Office.

Please allow 180 days before inquiring in reference to the status of these

cases. For additional information, contact the National Customer Service

Center

at 1-800-375-5283.

Thank You

James A Williams

Center Adjudications Officer

What the heck does that mean anyway?

Oh - we are in the Eastern Region and didn't get transferred. I think you'd be looking at offices like Atlanta, New York City and Florida who have processing dates of closed to 18 months old.

for I-485:

Atlanta - 5/16/06

Chicago - 4/26/06

LA - 5/16/06

NYC - 12/6/05

DC - 1/31/06

Orlando - 4/14/06

NYC (December 05) is the only one close to a year overdue. Hmmmm.

I don't think it has much to do with East or West.....Anchorage-based cases are apparently being transferred as well, and you can't get much more west than here

This is all speculation anyway.....we will probably never know why some cases are transferred to CSC and others are not. Who knows, maybe they really roll a dice......or the case worker was in a good mood.....or whatever :D

The only thing that seems to be fairly certain, is, that most of the transferred cases are former K-1s. Of course, that does NOT mean that all K-1 cases are transferred.....unfortunately it doesn't work that way around. :(

I just think all this guessing why etc. doesn't really help......As with everything else connected to USCIS, waiting is pretty much the only thing to do :(

I am adjusting in Orlando and I have been watching the processing dates closely. They have been close to two years behind for a long time until about 4 months ago and then all of a sudden they had 6 month processing times.

I don't know what this means but I am a K3 and I think since I already proved my marriage once that I am "less likely to require an interview"

I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to get transferred!!

Some of these processing dates have improved since the transfers. Which means these offices will get back to doing business the normal way.

If the program works and cuts the backlog, it will eventually disappear. IMHO. I don't see how USCIS can keep this program in place for long and maintain the 'integrity' of the system. They simply CANNOT grant cards without interviews longterm.

UNLESS they are laying the groundwork for amnesty.......

I don't know what this means but I am a K3 and I think since I already proved my marriage once that I am "less likely to require an interview"

Nice thought but recent approvals don't bear out that kind of logic unfortunately. I've seen more than one post in the last few days of high-fraud post K1 newlywed beneficiaries who won the CSC prize.

The LA DO has been processing cases quickly for over a year now (I have been monitoring!) and I have not seen anyone going through the LA DO not have to do an interview.

Personally, I don't get too upset about people not having to do them (though it should be equal) since most interviews I see on here read like a formality anyway. The thing that kills me with some recent posters who believe they get quick approvals/CSC transfers because their case was so straightforward -- you can't get a more clear cut case than ours! we've had a relationship for 15 years! I make a stack of money! We have no criminal record! We had a shared life including mortgage in the UK! In fact, he didn't even want to come that much in the first place, so he sure as hell wasn't going to commit fraud to get here!

whatever......I've long stopped applying logic to anything the USCIS do. If we don't get joy by this time next year (or even sooner), we are outta here.

Will you sponsor me?

I promise to be good.:lol::lol:

Sure, why not? I'm sure you keep a better house than my pre-EAD husband.

The "stack of money" is one of the big reasons we moved back over. It's kind of been a false economy in many ways though. I thought we'd be able to get a great house with it -- double whammy of LA house prices sticker shock and not being able to get a mortgage without a green card!

Me too!

Although I suppose it would have been easier if we had made our parents happy sooner and got married years back instead of living in sin -- although we did investigate getting married first before I left and then doing DCF, but that threw up a whole can of worms.....so we foolishly thought the K-1 would be easier.

add new orleans to this list

I485 processing May 05 (goes forward goes backward at random)

Im a K3 so I have ####### all chance of any processing happening soon and for what its worth it has me stumped how some are being rerouted and so forth.... This if the case looks easy and has no problems is bullshit... Mine like most here is pretty basic with absolutely no dramas but because of where we live and the fact that hurricane katrina is going to be used as a excuse for years to come...
