Hi - I am fairly new here and from what I have learned since I signed up is I will have plenty of time to make some good friends here!

So, I got all excited because I received an email from USCIS that I thought was my NOA 1. Now I realize it is just a notice that:

"Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing"

I suppose that I received this only because I filed two G-325A forms. One for my spouse and one for her son (my stepson now). And just now I realized that is why I got two emails from them with different receipt numbers! Duh! Anyway I thought I was going to be able to update my timeline but I guess that isn't an event the gets entered into the timeline. Right?

So, what to do next? - Correct me if I am wrong. I wait for the first actual snail mail letter and that will most likely be my NOA 1 (I do put that into the timeline). After that I prepare myself for a very long, agonizing, miserable wait. If I have no RFE's after months and months and months of waiting ........other stuff will start happening but there is nothing to do in the meantime except try to become familiar with this site and the governmental requirements? As I understand it, what I can do that will help me the most is learn to be patient (not my strong suit). Another helpful thing would be to not make mistakes. Would you say that is correct?

A couple of questions:

Is there a section or thread talking about minor children of a beneficiary of an I-130?

Receive IV Bill - What is this? I haven't been able to figure this out. What is an IV Bill?

This website has already helped me more than anything else I have done to try and be prepared for this process! Thanks.

08/2012 - Met the old fashion way through a mutual friend in person in Havana Cuba

11/2012 - Became a couple

12/2012 - Got engaged

04/2013 - Wedding in Havana Cuba

06/2013 - Filed I-130

06/28/2013 - NOA 1

12/30/2013 - Transferred to TSC

01/30/2013 - RFE for incorrectly certified translations

02/25/2013 - Response to RFE received by TSC

04/10/2013 - NOA 2 via email - approved!

Perk up they received your petition. You'll get I-797C usually within 30 days. In the meantime what you can do while waiting is read up on what will happen after you are approved at NVC. There is alot you can prep for now. Expect 5 to 7 months maybe it will be less. Wish to hope for the best.

What is it about minor children you need to know?

Here go to the NVC filers thread and read post #1 andf #2. Than come back here and ask away. Happy reading.
