Question Regardin Joint-Sponsoring

Hi, I currently need a co-Sponsor/s for my I-485 and I was wondering about the Privacy issue for the persons I am asking to co-sponsor me.

Do I have to have access to their tax-returns (do they have to provide me these documents for me to submit)?? Because of course, it is very embarrasing to ask someone to open up all financial details to me.

If that is the case, and I had the joint-sponsor send the document to USCIS instead of me (on my behalf)... Do I have to have the Co-sponsor attending the interview? Do I need to have original documents from her/him?

Thanks for advising... Regards

hi,

the joint sponsor needs to send the same documents with the i864 as the sponsor. they don't have to be present at the interview.

taxes, employment letter, paystubs if they have them, and proof of citizenship or being a resident.

citizenship can be copy of birth certificate or US passport

the forms are sent together, meaning sponsor and joint sponsor.

there is no privacy, the joint sponsor will be responsible for the beneficiary and immigration will have their SSN.

they could send it to you in an envelope, but if the form isn't correct or some documents attached aren't correct, then you won't know until you get an RFE.
