HELP!!!!

My husband is in El Salvador. We finally were approved for I601 on June 26, 2013. The Lawyer's assistant faxed a copy of the approval to My husband in EL Salvador and told him to take it to the Embassy and consulate along with his passport and then they will stamp it and then he can come home. It sounded to good to be true, so I called the Embassy in El Salvador and they want me to email them the approval (which shouldn't they have it?) and then they will verify all the information, then they will mail him a package that lets him know what to do next. I have tried to make an appointment through the Embassy website but states no appointment times available. So confused as to what to do next!! Can anyone help clarify????? #LOST #Desperate

Congrats on the approval !

Can you give me some specifics? Where did you file the waiver and how long did it take to get approved? We have to file one and I am curious about the processing times.

Thanks !

Congratz on your waiver approval!! My husband got approved for his i-212 waiver on May 20, 2013 and we were also told by our lawyer to go to the embassy and they would stamp it and he could leave. Since I am here in ES with my husband we went to the embassy and they told us we need to call the number for the consulate. I called the number and they created a profile for us on UStraveldocs, and that we have to wait for 90 days to hear back! I scheduled an appointment anyways and the earliest they had was for August 16th! We then got an email stating that we need to have the required documents again and an interview! My husband had his first interview 2 years ago so they need to have another interview with him where he needs to bring in the docs and medical exam again. We were thinking that we could just mail in the passport with the documents but I guess it depends when the first interview was and everything. We also filed in Nebraska and now we are just waiting for August 16th and hoping that everything goes well! He did his medical exam already and we have all the documents but on the list it doesn't say how recent the documents have to be except for the birth certificate which cannot be older than 3 months. This makes it hard because even when I called the people I spoke to were not able to tell me how current the documents have to be!And getting these documents from the US can take a while too. Hopefully you won't have to wait the 90 days because they told that to us also and we ended up receiving an email with instructions. When was the first interview?

I called the customer service number from the UStraveldocs site as soon as I received the approval and they told me on the phone that I have to wait 90 days; she also told me that since more than a year has passed since the first interview that my husband would have to go in for a second interview with all the required documents. Thats when we decided to go ahead and get everything taken care of. It wasn't until about 3 weeks after we received the approval notice that we received the instructions as to what to do. Have you submitted a service request through USTravel docs to see what the next steps are?

Yes I have, nothing is on there to tell me. I call and all they say is we have to wait to hear from them. No one has giving me any idea on anything we can work on while we were waiting. Do you have the phone number to were they helped u out the most? It has been 2 weeks today that we have been waiting.

I called the 703 number and pressed the option for immigrant visas, then the option to schedule an appointment over the phone. That will take you to a rep who will then ask all the info for the case and passport number, after that they can provide any info they have on your case and you can submit a request with them over the phone to check what's going on. They reply pretty quick usually within the same day or the next.

Update: we received a letter to have a new medical exam and new solvencia, and make an appointment by calling the EMbassy, so medical appt will be Friday, july 19 and called the embassy to get appointment and they have no more appointment times for CR1 visa!! Just our luck!! they schedule for 3 weeks in advance and they are full now. so any ideas of when and how to get an appointment time? how often should i keep calling?

Thats good that you finally received the letter with instructions. Thats crazy that they have no appoint times for the CR1 visa!! Do you have an account on ustraveldocs? That's how I was able to make my appointment but I made the appointment in june which is scheduled for aug 16. then a week later when I called to see if they have any times sooner than august she told me that they only had appointments for september! My advice would be for you to check with ustraveldocs and see if you can schedule something there, if not try calling the 703 number and choose the option to speak with someone in english, then choose the option to schedule an appointment for immigrant visas and request to speak to a supervisor and try and see how you set the appointment with them or if they can escalate it because if you have no priority date then you are current and appointments should be available no matter what. I had to call a lot, literally everyday for them to try to provide me with any information and it gets frustrating because they just tell you to wait 90 days. You can try putting a service request with them to see how an appointment can be made and then they will reply to you within 24-48 hours.

Yes, I did everything you said. They escalated a update in case status and recieved an email stating there are no CR 1 visa appointment available at this time. So I plan on calling everyday! I have a case on ustraveldocs as well! So frustrating when we are sooooo close to getting my husband home!

I had to contact them today because I saw a case status update and wanted to know what it was; then I asked her if there were any appt's available and she put me on hold for a bit, then she told me as of now there are no appts!! Even though I have mine scheduled for august 16 I still wanted to see if they had any sooner or anything but she told me there are none available and isn't sure when they will have open appointment times!! Have you tried placing an expedite or anything?
