you can do everythiing yourself. You don not need a lawyer. They cannot do anything to "speed" up the process. They can only make your arranging documents easier for you. But again, you can do all the paperwork yourself.

We hired an in-country attorney for Jamnan who did much of the leg work for her and filled out the documents. The cost was approximately $1600, which I saw as a bargain having paid attornies her in civil matters - I looked on it as potentially saving me a trip and us some time. Once we received the visa and we got married we filed for the green card ourselves as the paperwork really is pretty self explanatory. We managed to get through the process with a minimum of delay or angst - a year and a day from first meeting to greencard in the mail.

An important consideration is whether your fiancee can navigate their country's bureaucracy well enough to obtain necessary documents, find a translator, and fulfill other in-country obligations. While some couples can easily work through these things together, others will find the process overwhelms the relationship.

I was married and petitioned for my exhusband everything was fine. We did not use a lawyer but an office that prepared immigration apps and charged $500. Needles to say we are divorced and I am currently filing for my Fiance. Since i was afraid we would have issues filing (since i petitioned for my ex who is now about to be a US citizen) I went to a lawyer and she did not want the case because she was afraid of my outcome. Since i was not going to let her scare me i put all my faith in God because He is the only one Who knows my heart. i filed my self And He led me to VJ I followed the instructions I read on members profiles and i was approved with no RFE. We have our interview soon and in our hearts we know,we will be together and happy. I know you will be fine if you just ask and research and soon you will be,with your Soulmate.

I'm the beneficiary, last year before we started this journey, we were looking around on the net to search what we need to start the process. I saw a link in Google that led us to someone, he's handling lots petitioners, he said that he started to help petitioners after he deal with CR1 for his wife. I forgot the link but that was the link I will recommend because he put important stuffs we need and explain what to prepare there. We learned from his site and we did it ourself without had to hire him. And that time we found VJ which was also help us more. We did all by ourself and we didn't get RFE.

YOU CAN DO IT BY YOURSELF!

And I agree with someone here, that the communication between my fiancé and I are built well even though we are 10.000 miles away from each other. This visa thing makes us get closer to each other in communicating ;)
