Studying form home university whilst waiting for AOS/ Work permit

Hi everyone,

I was recently approved for my K1 visa and will be moving in August. I am part way through a Masters degree form my home university in New Zealand, and would like to continue when I get to the US (I am a teacher and am really hoping to be done in time for the next school year). I can't see any reason this would be an issue, but I wouldn't want to do something to compromise my status in any way. So I guess I am just asking - the fact its illegal for me to work pertains specifically to paid employment, and studying via distance from my home country gives no legal problems?

Thanks :)

Working and studying are two separate things, regardless of where you do it from. The EAD is an employment authorization, so it pertains to employment only.

You can study as much as you want while you are here, online or otherwise, at a school in US territory or any other country in the world.
