Hello!!!

My fiancé and I filed our k1 in jan and just got the notice that it is in Tx (where I live) waiting to be approved. The next step is our NOA2 and I'm about to hyperventilate. First ....should I be making wedding plans? Idk how anyone can do that not having the slightest idea when they are going to get here. I don't want his visa to be denied because of something like this. Also I was told by someone that I also had to go through an interview and would be asked very personal questions about our intimate life...I can't find any evidence of that in any website I have found . He is coming from Iraq. Can someone help???!!

Mena couples go though more work to prove their relationships than most. If you have any red flags ( big age difference with the woman older , religious differences, prior marriages ) you will have to go the extra mile to get your fiancé here. There is a lot of good regional information on what others have gone though , reading is highly recommended

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Hi there,

First, you filed in January and JUST now got your NOA1? Or got a notice saying it got transfered to TCS?

Yes, make wedding plans (start looking at what dress, flowers, photographer, etc...you want), but do not pay for anything yet, I'd say don't pay for any wedding stuff until you are in the US and are 100% sure of your wedding date, but that's just my advice and what I plan on doing.

After the NOA2 the benefiaciary will have to go to an interview in the consulate in Iraq, they will ask questions about your relationship but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing too intimate. Here's more about that http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Consular_Interview_Questions

Here are some FAQs http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-application.html

Hope that helped, good luck!

DO NOT MAKE WEDDING PLANS TILL AFTER INTERVIEW AND APPROVAL. i ALSO FILED IN JAN AND WAS MOVED TO TEXAS ON MAY 29TH WHERE i LIVE. HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED YET BUT FEEL LIKE IT WILL BE ANY DAY. BEST THING IS NOT WORRY SO MUCH IF POSSIBLE. THE INTERVIEW WILL HAVE QUESTIONS LIKE 1. WHERE YOU MEET , HOW YOU MEET, WHATS HE OR SHE DO FOR A LIVING, THINGS LIKE THAT NOTHING IN INTIMATE. IF YOU MEAN IN A SEXUAL NATURE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT ...JUST FACTS ABOUT YOUR RELATEIONSHIP. THESE QUESTION ARE INTENED TO SEE IF YOUR RELATEIONSHIP IS FOR REAL OR NOT

Don't count on this, everywhere, all the time.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thank you all so much!!!! just to clarify I got the NOA 1 in Jan a few weeks after we filed. we just got the notice of transfer on the 21st. This one has a beneficiary number on it though... Any one know what that is about? I think we will be approved any day also. I was just really worried about wedding stuff because one of the example questions I saw was asking for proof of wedding plans. I just don't want to give them any reason to deny anything after waiting for soooooo long. The conversation about the intimate things also eases my mind. Not exactly the conversation i care to have with anyone. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game as much as possible I just hope he is here soon!!! We were hoping to get married Aug 24 but I don't think we will make that.

hi there

im sure you have read some posts of mine star_smile.gif

but i didnt plan for a wedding, and its a good thing, we got denied, and it wasnt because we didnt have proofs of future wedding, the CO officer said he wasnt convinced, and asked my fiance more about him than us. and he seemed shocked that we only met once, and why we didnt just marry. seems like a silly question, i want to live in america and have a wedding here with my friends and family support. i enjoy living in america and i enjoy my rights, i just wish my country let me have the right to persiut of happiness by choosing who i want to live my life with! tongue.png

anywho, we are starting over, and we wil have another visit, more time together, and letters of support from family.. that is my slip of advise to give to you. make sure you collect that stuff. I wish there was more info out there for us, not a lot of people going thru iraq. i dont know if thats good or bad for us ;)

good luck to you heart.gif

You can make general plans, no deposits, keep it fluid. Look at the Iraq members and related forums for your best information.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

hello!!!

I haven't been on in a while so i just saw your post. I am so sorry that you were denied. I totally agree with you though. I don't know why things have to be so complicated. it seems like no one has any answers and it's all just a big guessing game. I just sent a giant package to them of proof and then some so hopefully this is the end. I wish you the very best of luck and stay in touch. star_smile.gif I don't know if that is good or bad for us either.......hopefully the fewer the faster the processing. All i heard from the lawyer hear was a big horror story about it could take another year and a half and that Baghdad was really slow processing but hopefully he is wrong. I have had enough of the waiting and I know you have too.

Good luck to you bothheart.gif
