Who is using his age a defense? The law regarding deadly force says nothing about age. If you have a "reasonable fear" of suffering death or serious injury, you can use deadly force. You do not even have to sustain ANY injuries, only have reason to fear you could. There is nothing about "unless the guy bashing your head on the sidewalk is 17 years old and not 18 years old"

This has nothing to do with smoking pot, TMs height, weight or who was best at MMA type fighting. The only place that is being discussed is on the "VJ trial"

GZ is going to walk out. He is going to walk out because he did nothing to violate the law. There is no law against bad judgement. When he shot TM he had good reason to shoot TM. Get over it.

I was at a friends home and they had MSNBC on,,,,, They talk about the Zimmerman trial but I swear they are watching a different trial.......If this is your only news source then I see why at this late date you believe George will fry. You talk about trying to promote riots in the streets. They are trying to make certain it happens. You had a test run up in Boston to see how the public would react to a police state that would make Putin proud. The left cannot wait to expand this line of thinking to every major city across the country. It will be gun control in the name of safety that we have never seen.The flash mobs have been practicing for years for this moment.

I don't think any thinking person, thinks MSNBC is a news source. it is an opinion channel, that caters to a very narrow demographic. That is why is has such a small percentage of viewership.

They finish a very distant 3rd always in the major 3 News Network ratings. FNC is always 1st followed by Cnn.. People can detect when they are being lied to, and like fair and balanced news.

If this same witness or another similar to her - a dark-skinned teenager who grew up speaking Creole and Spanish - happened to have been on the phone with George Zimmerman rather than Trayvon Martin, and testified for the defense rather than the prosecution, with the same type of performance in court (the same demeanor, vocabulary and grammar; the same types of discrepancies in various details unrelated to the basic facts of the case - why she lied about her age, why she lied about not attending a funeral, etc.) I can't imagine that this thread would contain the type of vitriol that has been expressed for her here.

Bottom line- TM did not deserve to be killed, and GZ is a lower class punk who happened to own a gun.

Somehow we are not supposed to notice and it's excused because she is black, as if we don't expect any better from her.

Just a point here. It really doesn't matter if someone "deserves" to be killed or not. What matters is was it legal for GZ to shoot/kill TM? Personally I think the answer is yes, it was legal. I think the jury will come to the same conclusion based on Florida law. If you don't like the answer, and you live in Florida, I would suggest contacting the state representative for your district and ask them to do something about changing the law. If they do not, take it up at the ballot box next election.

The person is on top of you pounding your head onto the pavement and you cannot do anything to make them stop. You are powerless. This is the pertinent question - was GZ within his rights under Florida law to use deadly force again TM.

I am not so sure of the jury's decision, though. I think it is wise to reserve making pronouncements until we hear the rest of the testimony. So far, there seem to be holes in several people's stories, but that's pretty common in most trials of this nature.
