Hello everyone,

First off I must say that the information on this website is ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I have read through Step-by-Step Guide on How to File an I-130 for a Spouse Inside the US. Other then the steps mentioned in this document (I believe they would apply to me since I entered the US legally) are there any special requirements for someone who is on a L1B? Must I file for an I-539 or any other forms?

Here is a little history about me:

Jan 2005 TN Visa

Jan 2006 TN Visa

Feb 2006 obtain L1-B

Feb 2006 move to the US to live with my girlfriend.

Nov 2006 engaged to the girl of my dreams!

Thank you in advance for any information.

Once married to a USC you will adjust status via your marriage to a USC. All the forms you need to submit are in the guide that you read. If that differs at all because of the LB visa, I'm sure that anyone familiar with that particular visa will let you know.

All the best to you and welcome to VJ.

Filing for an L-1B is basically the same as for an H-1B, which is what I had.

You should file I-130 and I-485 concurrently (i.e. in the same envelope). L-1B is dual intent so if its valid for a few more years you don't need to file for EAD or AP unless you plan on changing jobs.

Good luck.

EDIT: You don't file I-539 in this process.
