How accurate is Visa Journey?

Hi all-

I am wondering about the accuracy of VJ in regards to the timeline it provides. I applied for the I129F in April and got the NOA1 on April 29. My timeline says "Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between August 15, 2013 and August 19, 2013." .. Even now that California has dropped to a five moth processing period, I still don't expect to receive the NOA2 until mid Setember.. Can anyone say whether or not VJ is reliable in terms of estimating the adjudicated date? I would love to receive the NOA2 a month earlier than expected!!

The VJ timeline was accurate to within a day or two for us...NOA1 January 22, NOA2 May 29th. That said your experience may differ...many factors can slow things down...complexity of the supporting documentation (i.e. prior divorce, etc.), missing documentation, service center/regional office workload.

In terms of giving you an idea, it's ok but generally not very good at all. It's like playing the lottery and sometimes you'll hit the mark and sometimes you will be way off. There is too much to account for, with your petition, other petitions, the government (immigration reform bills was just passed) and uscis itself. Also igor's list requires that everyone put in their correct information and list under the right center. All this together gives you a very general idea of when it might be possible if everything goes your way. For example Vermont was great when I petitioned in January and I thought it was great that we were there. 5 months later and VSC fell behind and CSC picked up. So you just never know and should be prepared for the long haul just incase, and if the stars align you may not have any problems. So to answer your question, No VJ is not reliable timeline wise. What we provide here is a board scope and a place to get your questions answered, or to help you with moral support. It's a community, and that's where VJ is reliable, imo.

As for the immigration reform, I have read in the bill is a provision that says that they will not start the process until all the people currently in the system have been through it. I suspect that after that happens, and depending what the future holds, it will increase wait times...like the Dream Act did. However, this could take a very long time.

As the poster above me said, theirs was fairly accurate, and for my NoA2 I got it 3 weeks earlier. It's a ballpark

The further you are away from the date, the less accurate it is. As people around your date start to have theirs processed and your timeline gets closer to approval, you will see the timeline dates move closer to the current date. As this happens it becomes more accurate. By the tiime you get your approval, it will be fairly close. Of course the problem is, we never know exactly when a service center will speed up or slow down, so that is always going to play the role of variable that we cannot control.

When we first input our NOA1 (feb 27) it said Oct. because CSC was taking 8 mo. AS CSC sped up our date moved closer. We were approved exactly within the window it gave us, but by then most of Feb had been done.

That's pretty much how it worked for me, although I had a few times early on where it crept up to August then slipped back to October, but once CSC got their act together, it started moving closer and closer towards the current date. I think I got my RFE about a week or so before the window that the timeline gave me.

the k1 timeline is fairly accurate.. and like others state.. the closer you get the more accurate

now if you filed a 130.. throw the timelines out the window
