I know there are other post out here about this, but I just needed to reach out to someone....

I am a Feb 20th filer for K1 visa, then on June 21 my file was transferred to "a USCIS office". I have not received a letter tellling me where to, I am assuming Texas since I live in Georgia. I called USCIS today to inquiry and was told I now have to wait an additional 180 days for any type of approval...

Really????? I see people on here that are approved not to long after a file is transferred...I will go crazy to wait 4 months before I am outside of the "normal processing times"

Is this just standard thing they say to you or is it really 4 months before I can inquire again.....

You can inquire all you want but they aren't obligated to give you info while you're in processing times. Now that you're transferred, if its Texas then they don't have a timeline so you'll have to wait. People are waiting about a month on average though.

Not to be rude but I have to say that you're walking into this process by a wrong mindset. This process will try your patience to its fullest. This isn't any process you may have experienced with a state authority or any other application. To say "these people move at a snails pace" would be an offense to all snails. I also remember when I first applied my K1 visa, I had really high hopes and would wait on a daily basis. Don't think on a daily basis the process is long, there are applications that are processed within 3 months and then there are others (like mine) that take 7 months. And these guys dont process files in order they were received. There were so many peoples whose files were processed and approved well before mines was. Just keep checking and even checking you wont get much help because they usually give you their scripted answers USCIS reps are "trained" to give.

Right now my application was approved by USCIS and they were supposed to send the application to NVC which usually takes up to 2 weeks... So far, Ive waited 1 month and 3 weeks and still NVC has no record of my application. USCIS just says to wait... People whose applications were approved weeks after mine have been processed by NVC and gone to the Pakistan embassy and Im still waiting for NVC. Im going through my Senator to get some help with this.

Best of luck to you but please be patient.

We're in the same boat as you, NOA1 February 8th and just transferred to Texas on June 21st. We haven't been approved yet, but I would guess (and hope!) based off of others' recent approvals that it wouldn't be more than a month or so from now?

Before reading postings from everyone else regarding their transferred cases, I called three different USCIS agents to find out where our application went... I was given two different answers (Vermont and Albany), neither of which turned out to be correct! (I received a letter in the mail yesterday stating that it's in Texas). Based off of that, I don't know if I would trust the answer of another 180 days?

Good luck!! :)

I agree with fsaeed about the mindset. In my opinion the other threads that discuss the transfers are just toxic (to use someone else's word). Checking your case status continuously and keeping updated with everyone else's approvals accomplishes nothing positive for your case or for you. In fact, some people seem to be driving themselves crazy.

Calling USCIS repeatedly will do nothing for your case. And the truth is, you've only been waiting 4 months, so getting a congressman involved will not do anything for your case either. Do these things only if you want to be constantly told to wait longer.

The alternative would be to accept that you have no control over when your case will be approved. So in the meantime live your life with a positive attitude and refuse to let every day that passes without an approval upset you. It's all in your mindset. You can choose to spend every moment until approval depressed, frustrated, and angry. Or you can choose to enjoy your summer knowing that every day that passes is one day closer to your approval.

Edit to add: you can also spend your time preparing for the next step. No one wants to be the next one that says "I have waited so long and I'm finally approved!!! What's next?????"

~ Moved from K-1 Process to K-1 Progress Reports ~

All the cases transferred from the VSC are going to the TSC. It has nothing to do with where you live. From what I have seen, they have already been approving petitions that have been transferred.

Its Texas because they have time to deal with these case when VSC doesn't. This should be seen as a good move because TX will get the case moving long before VSC.

Please understand the process isn't fast at any point. It would do no good to call until enough time has elapsed anyway.

Try to relax with the knowledge that your case is in the system and moving along with the others on the conveyer where it will finally arrive in front of an officer.

While I agree that it's not good to check every day and get upset/depressed and you should expect it to take a while (we were prepared for 5-7 months), sometimes it is impossible not to and I don't think it's helpful to the OP grating on them saying they have the "wrong attitude" and not provide any information to assist them with.

We've ALL had our moments in this process where we feel down and upset and want to be with our loved ones more than anything and despair at how much longer it might take.

The OP should absolutely not wait another 180 days given that they're 20 days off the 5 month processing time which is stated on USCIS.gov for Vermont, which all transferees are having to go by. If they aren't processing at 5 months, they shouldn't publish it and while they do get through them as quickly as they can, at that 5 month mark the OP will be entitled to put in a service request.

OP, you can contact your congressman if you wish. We did at numerous points through our transfer and we were approved at just gone 5 months. Just take comfort in that your case has been transferred for faster processing, and compared to the pace VSC were putting them out at, Texas, once they got their stuff together 3 weeks after our transfer, they have absolutely been churning out approvals. At this point, any update is a good update. At Vermont, if there was no transfer, you'd most likely have been waiting 8-9 months. With the transfer, as a Feb 20th filer, I would assume you would hear by August at this rate. Don't listen to the mis-information like from USCIS, it is notorious for false information. If you want real information, contact your congressional representative or make an InfoPass appointment at your local USCIS field office.

This is incorrect. You still go by the Vermont processing times as that is your original Service Center. This is what numerous people have been told when contacting USCIS on the issue and also what our congressional representative was told. The Vermont processing time for I-129Fs is 5 months.

Also, the comment about contacting a congressman before the 5 months - that is rubbish. Our congressman's office enquired constantly on our behalf since our transfer at the end of May and pushed for an estimate for approval, and as a result, we got it 2 days after our 5 month mark. You are more than entitled to contact your congressman if you wish to, that's what they're there for, to represent you. They can also provide you with real information. Ours provided us with the transfer information, information about TSC training adjudicators, an estimate time for approval, told us when it was with an adjudicator and then our NOA2 arrived within the first few days of the TSC approvals. Then we got a personal letter directly from the congressman congratulating us a few days later. ABSOLUTELY not a waste of time contacting them before 5 months. It is always worth a try.

Oh man I really hope we dont have to wait 7 months goofy.gif

I agree with Queen though its NEVER too early to contact your congressman, you need to be pro-active from start to finish, not only in educating yourself on the process but making the most out of all the tools at your disposal.
