sorry, I've been all over http://panama.usembassy.gov/immigrant.html today and I not see an IV Unit contact info.

AND - my stuff about ustraveldocs was wrong, for you - I'm dead sorry.

Still, knowing when the casefile is opened at the IV Unit is useful, as it's only after that point that the IV Unit will resume processing on the visa application.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

how to know -

when you call DoS Hotline, asking for casefile status,

and

the casefile status is 'casefile opened'

then

Panama IV has opened the casefile and is ready to proceed with further processing on the visa.

How do you know that it hasn't been opened at panama IV? I'm confused as to how you can tell that? Thanks for all your help

When you call DoS Hotline, and they NOT say 'casefile opened' as the answer to , 'What's the casefile status?'

then

the casefile has not been opened at Panama IV.

But since on the that status website it says my case is ready, doesn't that mean its open? Sorry if I sound stupid lol, but thanks for helping

ceac.state.gov is NOT the DoS Hotline.

usually 'ready for interview' = 'casefile opened'

but

without direct confirmation from the DoS Hotline for casefile status? I think yer tipping at windmills.

Ok so I guess it wouldn't be opened until it actually arrived at the embassy. The expedite was approved Wednesday or Thursday (the days run together now lol) and I don't see that it has been shipped to the embassy yet, per the thread about DHL shipping. :( maybe on Monday
