Hello my name is Jessica (26, BFA in Animation) and my boyfriend is Erik (Works for Ubisoft), I already posted to VJ but haven’t introduced myself. Don’t mind me I’m about to gush.

We are not what you call a traditional couple. Actually we “met” online through playing video games. I know a lot of people frown on that, I’m not sure if it’s even the norm around here. I often hesitate to tell knew people how we met because they always have this look like they don’t think I’m telling the truth or it won’t last. Anyways it also worked out for my cousin who is getting married this August to a gam she met through video games; unfortunately my guy happened to be in another country.

We knew each other for 3 years before dating. Honestly I didn’t like him much at first, he knows this too. Some things happened and I started seeing him in a different light.

Later that year he happened to be visiting California. We met up while he was here and it all just clicked. Despite the chemistry we had both just gotten out of a bad relationship and I personally was not looking to start again so soon. About a week after he returned to Canada he said “I’m just going to call you my girlfriend, deal with it” and I said “ok”. Guys I know it sounds bad, but really it was a sweet gesture after our back and forth talk of liking each other but not sure if we are ready.

BTW my family adores him. We are a pretty close group, getting together once in a while to play games and of course any holiday you can think of. He was willing; unlike most men we bring home, to play the games, so major brownie points. My farther treats him like the son he never had. My mother is more than willing to co-sponsor for the K-1. Every time I see my family they asked when he is staying forever. Also they don’t know yet we are already looking over the K-1. Technically I don’t have the ring yet but everyone pretty much considers us engaged we just haven’t officially announced it.

We will soon officially be together for about six years and I have finally accepted to take his proposal. I wanted to wait till we were both finical able and I just started a new job 2 months go so we can live on off that money while he looks for work.

The USCIS is terribly vague and we thought getting married would only take 3-month (The 90 days that’s mentioned). We had no idea he PROCESSING time is 6-9 months. Even though we have not filed yet this site has already saved us tons of pain. THANK YOU.

So basically this is a shout out to Nerdy/Geeky love. I believe it’s possible to find the love of your life through gaming. And people said when I was younger video games are bad or me rolleyes.gif

Oh that’s pretty common.

Met my husband playing WoW and at my Visa Interview the CO said it’s more common than dating sites.

Oh Fantastic! We met through another game but started dating when we were both playing WoW. We still play other MMOs when we have the time :). Glad to hear about the interview too so they wont look at him funny when he answers honestly.

We met playing Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2 actually (on PC.)

We've played WoW together too. :)

I should post a picture of our living room someday. We have 2 computers, one is his with his US flag over his desk, and the other is mine with the Canadian flag. LOL No couch or TV.
