My dad was deported to Ireland 6 years ago because of an aggravated sexual assault of a minor charge. Please don't judge - the minor was me, I forgave, and the charge is awfully trumped up, as far as I'm concerned. Regardless, my siblings and I are trying to get him back to the US and don't know where to begin. I don't even know how long his ban is for! He had a crappy attorney that knows nothing, so we're pretty much on our own here and don't have the money to be hiring another attorney for help. Any guidance would be appreciated!

You are going to have an extremely uphill battle ahead of you, you should know this from the outset. The US takes sexual offences (especially against minors) very seriously.

This is unlikely to be something you can attempt by yourself, at least not with any reasonable expectation of success. You will need an attorney, and likely a very good (and so very expensive) one, to boot.

Your father would likely need to file an I-212 (permission to re-enter after deportation / removal) and an I-601 (waiver of the inadmissibility resulting from his crime since it was a crime involving moral turpitude). It's going to be very, very difficult to get these waivers approved.

It isn't going to happen.

I am sure many Lawyers will take your money.

Your father has a life time ban from the US. A sexual offense against a minor is an aggravated felony and a crime involving moral turpitude which makes a person permanently inadmissible.

Your father has zero chances of coming back to the US. The US will not take the chance of letting a convicted sex offender back into the US - especially when the sex crime involves a minor.

Read up on sex crimes and in admissibility before you waste money in a lawyer.
