So many strive to follows the rules, complete the process and then you have .... 10 million illegals that get it handed to them, just because they are illegally in the USA.

B.S. Their parents broke the law by bringing them here. Everyone has a sob story about why they should get special treatment. "My daddy brought me here, it's not my fault" Maybe give them a path to residency if the parents are willing to do a little time for the laws they broke.

we need more people in jail? it isn't about special treatment. deporting illegals often results in broken families. putting parents in jail certainly results in broken families. children left without a parent, or both parents.

If more parents took the time to think about the consequences of their actions this wouldn't be the problem that it is now. Very irresponsible not to consider what effect this may have on their children in the future.

Why have immigration laws at all then? If there's no consequence for breaking them?

Guess what? There's lots of broken families out there due to one or both parents being in jail for breaking the law. That's life. This whole thing will merely encourage more law breaking.

By your logic we shouldn't lock anyone up for breaking the law if they have children, for fear of breaking up a family.

Breaking the law often results in broken families. It's called a consequent of actions. Lock down the jobs. No public resources if not life and death. They can go home the same way they got here and it will not cost us anything

i'm not suggesting we don't have immigration laws. if people are inspected upon entry and work and pay taxes and abide by all other laws - i have no problem with them staying.

since most jails are bursting at the seams i don't think they deter much law breaking either.

that isn't at all my logic. but people who are simply living their lives and raising their children, should not have everything torn apart strictly over a green card or a visa.

watch this some time..

i'm sure everybody has something they did when they were young that they regret, something irresponsible - stupid. imagine if that thing was bringing your young family to the u.s. for a better life? i can't brush off people with such a broad stroke. they're already here, settle the problem and move forward.

Yea, imagine crossing the desert with your children, or while you were pregnant. All the while knowing what you were doing was illegal. Then get to the US and lie and use false documents. Learn every way to avoid the law and stay under the radar. I personally know two women who crossed while pregnant. And they're husbands were already here illegally. They didn't know they were pregnant when he left, so they came to join him.

i just don't care about any of that. people have to live somewhere. let them live on the radar. hold them accountable to the same laws we are. let them pay taxes. i don't see the point in criminalizing people for wanting to live here. besides, there is no plausible way to deport and keep out everyone who is here illegally.

So what you are saying is that we should have no immigration controls or laws? I understand that you may feel sorry for these folks, but there is a reason why we have these laws. You can't just open the flood gates and let anyone come here just because they want to. It may seem that simply letting them stay because they are already here would solve this issue, but that would just open the flood gates and not solve the problem at all. They tried that approach back in 1986. It obviously didn't work.

there has to be a middle ground. we can have sensible immigration laws that focus on a path to compliant permanent resident living that function within legal citizen boundaries with the option for citizenship on the table. certainly, dropping millions of people in their respective countries of birth isn't going to work either.

Dropping millions of people here, which is not their country of birth seemed to have worked out just fine ?

who the hell is talking about dropping millions of people here? you do understand the reprecussions of en masse displaced people - we certainly wouldn't be ridding ourselves of any problem. just creating new problems - on top of keeping the old..

Yes. The Prison Industrial Complex could use more inmates.
