Anyone who believes this comprehensive immigration reform Amnesty Bill will be anything other that a re-run of 1986 under the Reagan Presidency is seriously deluding themselves.

This is a long-term vote grab, nothing more. Neither side, for their own reasons, both economic and political, wants the flow of illegal immigrants to stop. Legalizing those illegal immigrants already here is the aim. Border security is not.

I agree with you and an saddened because there seems to be a critical mass of people willing to make a compromise.

The republicans want assurances that if reform happens we wont just be starting a new cycle. I like that idea but the implementation suggested so far shows they are not sincere.. Hiring another 20,000 people to guard the boarder will not mean squat, its just a gift to homeland security and defense firms and is worse than nothing: Fixes nothing but costs money.... A better word for this would be "bribe"

The problem needs to be fixed by making it untenable to be an illegal immigrant.. We do that by having heavy (heavy) fines for corporations and people who hire illegal labor and we force them to pay minimum wage or better. Yes prices will probably go up for some things (short term) as farmers and food producers have to pay a livable wage but so what.. If people have to live in tents and shacks so that I can get my cocoa crispies for 10% less then I guess I should be paying more for food. We do not need cheap illegal labor to survive.

If we make laws (and enforce them) to make it untenable to be here we need to do something about the 11 million here. We can't just send them all "home", the current laws and regulations are what made us an attractive nuisance and brought them here in the first place.. That is the compromise. We stop the cycle from repeating and assimilate those that are here (they are now part of our economy and would cause harm to all of us if we just rip them out). We also need to understand it is going to be around a 20 million increase as those 11 million will be bringing families as they complete the process and are able to fill out those I-130 forms in large numbers.

The current senate bill will just starts a new cycle and costs more money... I prefer the current situation over that.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

You're going to use Japan as an example? Will those Filipinos and Chinese ever have a chance at Japanese citizenship, or even permanent residency for that matter? Probably the most Xenophobic place on the planet.

That is my point. Lots of people here are against illegal immigrants being legalized. This shows inherent racism, which the far right profits by.

Btw no gun ownership here and a low crime rate.

America could not survive economically without illegal immigrants.

If you make it untenable for companies to employ illegal immigrants, you won't need to do something about most of the 11(or whatever) million. Most of them are economic migrants. Take away their economic driver for being here and they will move somewhere they can make money.

Then things get much more manageable.

Not the least bit impossible. Start levying huge fines and a path to jail time for those that hire them, Do not allow them to receive any services that are not needed for a life threatening situation, do not allow them to register for school and universities.

We will not have to dump them anywhere. They will go back home for the same reason they came here. To find a better life. No need for fences, no need for more massive Federal programs.

Problem solved, no huge cost and burden to our citizens.

See how easy that was even a caveman ** could understand it

In teatard land this probably seems like a possibility. In the real world, however, this isn't going to happen. Since most of us live in the real world, we gotta come up with real world solutions.

And no, I do not expect teatards to understand this so it's okay if you don't.

Trouble for politicians is that this is the real world solution. It just doesn't work out well for them in the short term, or some of their paymasters in the long term. Most ordinary people understand the principle just fine.

And contrary to your lopsided, jaundiced POV, this is not a left vs right issue. Both political parties are complicit in this betrayal of the ordinary, law-abiding American people.

Remember, the last major push for comprehensive immigration reform Amnesty was made by BushBaby. And it was defeated by a groundswell of public opposition. An informed electorate made its wishes known and the Bill died. That is the real world.

I have never seen this as a left vs. right issue. It clearly isn't. What I am pointing out is that this real world solution has zero chance of being implemented. That's the real world we live in. Now you may honestly think that there actually is a chance to take this path but then you'd have to ask yourself who actually suffers from a lopsided, jaundiced POV.

A Fox News poll released Thursday finds that most voters generally favor those provisions.

The new poll shows 81 percent of voters want to strengthen border security and stop additional illegal entry into the country.

In addition, 74 percent favor finding a way for the 11 million illegal immigrants already in the country to remain -- and eventually become citizens -- if they meet certain requirements, such as paying back taxes, learning English and passing a background check.

In Florida, where GOP Sen. Marco Rubio has been one of the staunchest supporters of reform legislation, 72 percent of voters said they support the legislation (including 45 percent who strongly support it) and 71 percent backed the pathway to citizenship.

In South Carolina, home to reform-boosting Republican Lindsey Graham, those numbers were only a bit lower: 62 percent who support the Gang of Eight bill and 60 percent who backed the pathway to citizenship.

And in Texas, the rapidly changing but still-conservative state with two senators who have resisted reform – Ted Cruz and John Cornyn – 67 percent said they could support the reform bill as described, with 72 percent backing a pathway to citizenship.

The average support for the “Gang of Eight” legislation was just under 68 percent, according to the pollsters.

McCleary and Jensen write in their memo: “The bipartisan immigration reform package represents a rare opportunity to cast an affirmative vote for major legislation that enjoys overwhelming support from voters of all stripes.”

Liberal logic: I am such a retard that I will label a group of which 100% of the members have participated in the immigration process inherent 'racists' because they only support legal immigration

I guess it would be too much to ask what race has to do with following immigration laws that apply to everyone

i don't get it.
