Travelling from Scotland to London Embassy (Medical)

Hi.I just wanted to ask if any Scottish VJ's have travelled recently to the embassy and what route/transport they used.It looks like its reasonably cheap to fly (around £200 return flying from Glasgow to London City).Then use the Docklands Light Railway to get to Bank(Central Line),then a short ride to Bond Street.I am still waiting to book my medical but want to be as prepared as possible.I was hoping to fly down and back in one day depending on the time of my medical,but it looks like I may need to fly down the day before and stay in a hotel which will probably cost an arm and a leg.

So,Has anyone managed to do this trip in one day?

Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel which is not too far from the Embassy?

Easy jet has good flights to gatwick. Then the gatwick express train to Victoria and a tube to the hostel. Super inexpensive.
