Do residence permits need to be translated for RFE?

This is a scan of my residence permit from two years ago. My father had to scan it in for me since it's in my old passport at home.

Certain parts are only in Chinese (the city where it was issued, and the fact that it was for work). Does this still require a "word-for-word English translation" and certification that the translator is qualified?

this is the uscitizen's document?

what would you use it for, when chasing a K-1 visa ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

He says in response to RFE, so I am guessing it is the proof of meeting in the last 2 years. From his "oops" it also seems like he already sent it so... hope it doesn't lead to denial.

Yes, it's to prove that we've met in the last two years. I'm sending in copies of my plane tickets, as well as the residence permits to show that I lived in China for the two years prior to the application (and the residence permits were issued in the city where my fiance lives.)

I haven't sent it yet; the issue is finding a "qualified translator" at the moment. I'm only in China for another week, during which I'll be handling a whole lot of other stuff as I prepare to move home. Also, with all the expenses of moving, I'm a little strapped for cash at the moment, so paying someone to translate a grand total of TWO LINES on that form is frustrating.

for uscis - it doesn't have to be as official as a notarial translation, white book document, that GUZ IV wants to see - so that's a plus.

However, there must be a translator's attestation paragraph in the translated page.

Most chinese grad students in USA will do it for 20 bucks. Personal services IN China? No clue - but if'n you gots a buddy there, that's sufficient.

You or someone you know fluent in both languages? You can do it for free> http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations

My fiancee and I are both fluent in both languages. And seriously, it's only 3 words, not a particularly complicated translation. I just wasn't sure if the translation had to be done by a third party.

no - the translation into USCIS is very easy stuff.

Guanzhou IV, on the other hand, for her CIVIL documents, wants a very formalized translation set.

Not the same thing, at all.

OK, it not needing to be notarized is helpful. I'm surrounded by people who are fluent in both languages, it's just a matter of having the time to meet up with them to sign off on the translation.

Also, are plane tickets and residence permits enough? I suppose I could try to translate the entry/exit stamps as well. I'm also trying find software that puts the date onto digital photographs (since undated photos aren't acceptable.)

ETA: What civil documents? We already had a professional translator/notary translate her birth certificate, criminal record (or confirmation that she has none), and marriage eligibility. Are they going to ask for anything else down the line?

civil documents, the white book notarial translation versions, are presented on interview day at Guangzhou IV as part of the DS-230 Part I.

birth certificate, affadavit of single status, police clearance certificate.

check the china forum, there's a recent topic on P3 document list - I've got an ugly url in there for the big list.
