Yes, at least one reason is that they tend to work in blocks on different kinds of cases. Last month they were working hard on K petitions, maybe this month it's AOS or something else. Once they get back to the K and CR visa petitions, we'll see a lot more approvals. And I sure hope that's soon, if I can't be with my wife this Christmas I'd sure at least like the present of an approval on the petition.

Hey, you're correcting English spelling now? From the girl who refuses to spell "Brazil" in English in the middle of an English sentence?

Just joshin' ya.

Brasil is the name of the country.

"there" used in that way is a big mistake and changes the meaning of the sentence (hey, I'm an English teacher, what can I say?)

I don't see what the big deal is - Brasil/Brazil

Brasil is the name of the country.

Only in the same way Estados Unidos is the name of a country.

That's been my point the whole time. I don't understand why you'd want to spell it "Brasil." That's its name, sure...in PORTUGUESE.

If you're an English teacher, why would you want to butcher English? I'm a copy editor, and I ABHOR this sort of thing.

It's the name of the country in the primary language of that country, just like United States of America is the name of this country in the primary language of this country. That's not like Estados Unidos at all; it's rather more like Kolkata. They're both corrections from anglicised versions of place names. This is a dumb fight, btw.

Thank you.

I didn't realize it was becoming an argument until someone made it that way. Therefore I decided not to respond.

I'm glad you don't see the big deal in it either.
