Do you mean in the insurance company? Think they said, family members must be blood related, and thats why he has to adopt her..Thats again a long process.I am just praying for her...Was wondering is any other way to get her insurance while we wont be able to do that?

That makes no sense. Plenty of people have blended families. Ask again. I have never heard of someone having to adopt a K2 kid just for insurance.

A simple google search tells me you have misinformation. Adoption is not required. The kid qualifies as a step child.

From what I heard, If she is still in school she can still be on a parent's insurance, if she is out of school she needs to get her own insurance and getting adopted won't make a difference insurance wise. Double check

Is that fact makes any difference that she is over 18? Count like an adult..

Every company has a different policy. Have your husband ask for a copy of the insurance policy and read the section under Eligibilty and What is a Dependant.

I've worked as a nurse in insurance for a long time and most plans have decided to allow dependant "children" until age 26 in advance of the anticipated mandate under Obamacare.

The only instance I am aware of which requires adoption for coverage is when a grandparent is raising the grandchild and needs to add the grandchild to the plan as thier dependant.

As other people suggested, it sounds like your husband needs to speak with someone else. Most places have an HR (human resources) or personell office who should be able to assist. If that person is the roadblock then go around them and contact the insurance company customer service line directly. The number should be on his insurance card.

From what I heard, If she is still in school she can still be on a parent's insurance, if she is out of school she needs to get her own insurance and getting adopted won't make a difference insurance wise. Double check

This is no longer a requirement on most plans.

Thanks to everybody !!! Yes,we checked, called the company....She isnt eligible for my husbands insurance..Because she is over 18,and not going to school,he must adopt her, She got her EA, so,probably that would be the best solution,if she would get a job..We are working on it. Again, thanks to everybody. Will leave a report if we set anything..
