I have always supported a woman's right to choose to have an abortion though I do not like abortion and would never want my wife to have one. I wish they would all stop tomorrow by lack of demand. But I do not believe I can support a LAW which forces others to follow what I believe.

I am not gay and have no interest in that lifestyle and frankly, couldn't possibly care less what other people like to do in their bedrooms. I just believe we need the government to stay out of it. No doubt things I do in my bedroom (as often as possible) offend someone else and would be (or are) illegal somewhere (probably Alabama) What I always found humorous is the concept of elected adults having committee meetings to decide what I can do with my wife in our bedroom. I would rather leave that up to her. In the meantime, Ukrainian kids speak English better than American kids but our state legislatures are worried about on what part of my wife's body I may put my mouth. And we are supposed to believe that THAT is more important to families than, say, education of children!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of people that feel the same way Rush does, and I have no problem with that. Your marriage and mine will not be affected by what someone down the street does in their bedroom. Heck, where I live I think lesbian donkeys can marry lesbian giraffes...who cares?

The best thing would be to get government OUT of this business of marriage and let giraffes and donkeys do what they choose, make an agreement and enforce it in court paid for by fees of each party, the same way business operates...a contract. With minimal qualifications for legality...the same as any other contract. Why does a marriage contract need to be different than a contract to provide uniforms for employees on a weekly basis? A marriage is only what 2 people make it anyway. If the promises you make each other don't have meaning to you, how can the government force that?

Eliminate the tax benefits of being married by eliminating income tax, take the IRS out of our lives so Republicans cannot single out Democrat organizations for tax scrutiny...voila! Problem solved. There is no special income tax benefit for being married because there is no income tax.

We always look at this from the wrong angle. "How do we make tax breaks fair for all people?" Is not the correct question. The correct question is "Why do we have a revenue system that can be used to manipulate behavior?" is the correct question.

I would say our marriage tradition is more in danger from Kim Kardashian than from Melissa Etheridge.

Vermont allows anyone to carry a gun and anyone to get married and even anyone to walk around naked...carrying a gun, and smoke pot while doing it! Yet we were recently chosen as the best state to raise children, the safest state, the healthiest state. #######!? How could it be?

Well written and well said Gary.. Spot on.. 100% how anybody could who likes freedom could find fault with anything you said is beyond me. The fringe left is just as dangerous to this nation as the fringe right. A lot of the abortion foes are correct in their beliefs, save one. They do not have the right to push that belief on others.

Your rights stop where mine stop, it is a complete injustice to tell a poor scared 18 year old girl she can not have an abortion or access to birth control It is an equal of greater injustice to tell someone opposed to it they have to pay for. We have got to bring back self sufficiency, responsibility and the rights of the individual or this country is doomed.
