Hello everyone, Im just curious about something, I recently received this package consisting on the

DS 230 form (Part 1) and other related docs about whats coming next such as Vaccines, and police background . I see that the form that I got does not contain Part 2, I had the DS 230 filled out way b4 it arrived, I dowloaded this form from the USCIS webpage and it actually have a Part 2

I sent it in but I didn't sent Part 2 with it, Was that a good move?, Im worried they need part 2 now.

Please advise.

Hi grayfox,

You did the right thing. You don't need to send the DS-230 part II now. That is only needed at the interview at the Embassy/Consulate. They will actually send you one DS-230 part II form with Packet 4 (Interview package), which contains also your interview date. And you shouldn't sign it as you'll have to do it in front of the consular officer. So don't worry...be happy!

Some consulates split up the DS-230 into part 1 and part 2, and send part 1 in packet 3 and part 2 in packet 4.

It is their way of telling your that they only want DS-230 part 1 returned to them and they want you ro bring DS-230 part 2 with you to the interview.

Note don't fill in or sign part 2 below the line on page 4, they want you to do this in front of the consular officer at the interview.

I just wanted to clear one thing up:

CR1/IR1s DON'T get packet 3 from the embassy/consulate (only K visas do). We get the DS-230 package from the NVC (which is the same thing). It is called now the Instruction package. Once that has been processed by the NVC and sent to the embassy/consulate in your country, then they send you the former packet 4 (now called Interview Package).

please clarify ltl bit more..........i mean where do you got this information.......so doesn't the consulate sends any packet 3 at all in the case of IR/CR -1........our DS-230 is being reviewed at NVC so after this case is send to consulate and the consulate will send us the packet 4........or interview packet??????????

waiting to hear from the persons who knows about it ????????? i already mailed asking about packet 3 to the bombay consulate in india........but they havnt responded yet........ pse

It all depends on the consulate and how they handle their packets. When we went thru the NVC we had to submit the DS 230 part 1 and the I-864 and once they were reviewed and approved the case went to Islamabad. At Islamabad they sent out packet 3.5 which was the instructions for the medical, police and what other documents to submit before they would grant an interviw. It also had a new DS-230 part 1 and II to submit at the embassy level. Do not sign part two at the bottom it is to be done at time of interview in front of the officer. Packet 4 was the interview letter. Good luck.

I guess it depends on the US embassy/consulate in your country then. Maybe you should try to contact someone that is getting a CR1/IR1 in India. Don't they have a website? Sometimes they have the information you need there.

I'm in Brazil and my packet 4 included the interview letter , the DS-230 part II and the instructions to get the medical, the list of documents to be brought to the interview, etc...In my case the US consulate had to request a police certificate from the Netherlands in my behalf before they granted me an interview. But I had contacted them in advance and once they had received my case from the NVC I was able to send them the info they needed to get this certificate without them having to send me any notification. Once they received the police certificate they sent me the packet 4. The rest of the documents I got myself. Here they don't request you to send any documents before the interview.

Point of clarification: DS-230-I and I-864 were not approved by the NVC. They were reviewed and found to be complete. Nothing more.

They were evaluated and approved (aka adjudicated) at the consulate.

Excuse my terminology then I know they are reviewed and forwarded and then will be issued or adjudicated by the embassy/consulate. No visa is approved and issued until it is cleared in name checks and then adjuicated.

I should of said these items are looked at at the NVC level and then forwarded to be adjudicated after all items are checked and clearances completed by the consulate.
