Reading a lot of forums, mixed info becomes commonplace and i began to wonder. If you have a SSN and have submitted your application for EAD, can you work with with the SSN and the reciept for EAD? I am sorry to post a second similar topic so quickly after the first, i dont mean to cause clutter....

I appreciate ANY answers, they are not taken for granted...

Good luck to everyone, no matter what stage you are at.

Scott

You will need the EAD card in hand. Employers will see the notation on the SS card, and will ask to see the EAD card.

You're wrong actually YuAndDan. As soon as your receive the email that your EAD has been approved, you're allowed to work. When signing the I-9, the requirement is that if you don't have the EAD in hand, you must show it to your employer within 90 days of signing the EAD. Other than that the receipt notice should suffice.

Of course most often employers will not take this risk and demand the EAD, but they're not legally required to do so. My employers for example allowed me to sign an I-9 based on looking at my EAD case approval online. I received my EAD a week later and took it in for them to see.

Wow, this email of approval, how long does this take once you send in your applications (on average, if you know)?
