We are doing the sputum testing now. If the tests are negative what is the next step? St Luke's said that we should cancel our current interview appointment and THEY will be the one to reschedule it for us. Anyone have any experience with this? I don't want to cancel our apt. and wait for St Luke's to reschedule us if we can/or should do it ourselves???

Thanks

You wait 3 months for culture. If culture is negative, then get ready for interview.

No need to cancel appointment, embassy already notified when she was told to do sputum test.

SLEC is normally very good about rescheduling the appointment... normally. I have read of a few on here on VJ who rescheduled their appointment, a control thing maybe, not sure that it was because SLEC forgot.

After the sputum tests are done, and all is negative, you can verify whether SLEC rescheduled or not.

"IF" the testing is positive it will be another 6 months, so remember to contact the embassy to extend the validity of the petition (USEM extend it 4 months at a time).

SLMC told us we need to cancel? We more concerned about getting rescheduled. We just want to get a appointment ASAP :)

Will we get an appointment right away(priority) or will we have to just wait for first available?

Doubt you would get any "priority" for an appointment, whatever is the next available opening would be my guess.

Yeah, probably right...thanks

The sputum culture result is ready in 8 weeks. My parents had their shots today after the 8-week culture that turned out negative. Thank God! And yes, SLEC tried to reschedule my parents' interview appointment for July 15. They actually gave that schedule to everybody and they were told that it is the only earliest available slot for July. I called my mom and told her not to confirm with the July 15 appointment. Instead, I did it by myself online and got them a July 3rd slot.

The embassy may not honor the appointment you scheduled. I would suggest making some calls to USEM to confirm as they may only honor the rescheduled date set by SLEC.

This is from a CR-1 who posted his results, but it may help you (?):

"Do NOT attempt to re-schedule a CR-1 visa appointment. After I got my wife's initial appointment I rescheduled her appointment by calling the Embassy in Manila. When we showed up at the Embassy on the appointed date we waited for a couple of hours before we were called up and told that my wife would have to come back on the original date that was scheduled for her. I was told this was due to them not having the paperwork in hand (the NVC apparently doesn't send it out until just before the interview date THEY schedule). One of the moderators here mentioned I could have asked them to use the electronic copies in the system. When I asked about this at my wife's actual interview a couple of weeks later I was told that they will only process a CR-1 with the hard copies regardless of the situation as a matter of policy. I also found out that because I had rescheduled I had run the risk of losing the initial interview date and could have had the process punted back to the NVC to reschedule for the NEXT month.

It is important to remember that the NVC usually only schedules CR-1 visa interviews during the first and second weeks of the month. If you were approved in the last half of the month they will schedule you early the next month for an interview the month following after that month. So if you were approved in late May, they will schedule an appointment in June for July or August if July is already full."

Thanks Hank. Yes, I will give USEM a call later to confirm. My parents' original interview is supposedly June 6th. But because of the sputum culture, we needed to reschedule it. Also, the the lady in charged at SLEC earlier told my parents they can call USEM or schedule online because July 15 is really a long wait to be staying in Manila and my parents didn't want to spend another airfare going back and forth from Negros to Manila.

Totally understand, just have read where USEM gets funny about appointments with certain visas. K-1s are a breeze for rescheduling.

So we can reschedule our K-1 interview apt ourselves?

Yup. You have to cancel the first appointment the you can re-schedule. You are only allowed to do this twice, after that you would have to pay another visa fee.
