Can we do CFO before medical and interview?

Just got NOA2 trying to get some stuff done to fill time.

I'm confused by CFO website on if the visa is needed or not

I see people posting they went before and then others say you need it.

So I suppose this is a bit of a repeat but I want to make sure I'm asking in a clear way and hopefully get a clear answer lol :)

1/16/2013: NOA1
5/29/2013: XFER TO TSC
6/24/2013: NOA2
7/11/2013: Mailed to NVC
7/19/2013: Received NVC#(MNL#) in email
7/22/2013: Petition packet Shipped to Manila from NVC "In Transit"
7/24/2013: Petition package received in Manila - Consulate ready for interview
8/01/2013: Medical at St Luke's PASSED!!!
8/12/2013: INTERVIEW American CO " APPROVED"
8/13/2013: CEAC STATUS - administrative processing

8/15/2013: CEAC STATUS - ISSUED

8/26/2013: received VISA

9/05/2013: POE - GUAM -Flight from MNL to El Paso, TX- BEST DAY EVER =)

10/5/2013: Married!!

11/13/2013: Filed AOS / EAD/ & AP

11/18/2013: NOA1 all

12/12/2013: Biometrics completed

05/27/2014: AOS Interview

05/27/2014: AOS approved Received GC a week later.

10/08/2014: Report of Marriage & Passport Renewal LA Consultate General

Visa Arrived ---------- 10/17/2013

POE SFO ------------- 10/21/2013

Delays maybe inevitable, but misery is optional!

Yes you can get your CFO certificate then go back again when you get your Visa for the sticker in her passport.

You can also get your CFO certificate and sticker in one day if you already have your visa (assuming all went well with you and your counselor) for K1 visa.

We just did CFO before, for CR1/IR1 visa, because we need the CFO certificate for changing my last name (bec I am already married to a US citizen) in my passport.

Latest passport is one of the requirement in IV packet (NVC stage).

Met in person : 2009-02-24
Second visit : 2010-03-12
Married : 2012-07-17
I-130 Sent : 2013-01-23
I-130 NOA1 : 2013-01-28
NOA2 : 2013-05-16

NVC Received : 2013-06-10
Pay AOS Bill : 2013-06-25
Return I 864: 2013-06-26
Return DS 3032: 2013-07-01

No problem completing CFO before the medical and interview, many do it that way. Then they go back with the certificate after they have the visa in their passport and get the sticker.

Things can move very quickly once you have your MNL #!
