This is an e-mail sent to my congressman's office regarding my I-130. When would they send the file to my local office...who knows?

Anybody have any idea how long they been holding the standalone I-130 at NBC?

Susan sent the e-mail to NBC on the 11th and the response was today, so they are really backed up even for responding e-mails.

Good afternoon Susan,
All emails are targeted for completion within five days of receipt. We are aware that you are receiving an answer to your inquiry past the five day mark, and appreciate your patience.
Thank you for your inquiry regarding XXXXXXX’s Form I130 petition. This case was received in our office on 03/08/2013. At this time, the stand-alone Immediate Relative Form I130 petitions are being sent to the NBC for transition to the local field office of jurisdiction. However, due to the high volume of applications, these cases are currently being held at the NBC until further notice.
Again we would like to thank you for your inquiry and please let us know if we may assist with any other concerns,

What exactly are you asking? They have been sending the files out to local offices from NBC since Aug 15, 2012. It normally takes 1-3 months for the NBC to send the file out to the local office after they receive it. As your file is currently at the almost 4 month waiting mark, you are still within normal processing times of 4-8 months for petition processing.

thank you for clarification. i got worried after i read the post and was watching this.

so, the case is not immediately sent to the local office a few days after the receipt? why do they wait 1-3 months before they send it? some processing is done at the NBC?

Not really. Mostly I think they're just not trying to completely bombard the field offices, for one, for 2, they have to filter everything they get to the correct field office and it's probably sent in batches.

Mine was not sent until sometime early to mid january.

mine went out after about 7 weeks, and you can always call uscis and inquire with a tier 2 if there is any question about where your file is.. sometimes you have to kill them with kindness, but they will be able to tell you.. either way SF is in pretty good shape

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Is there any way to find out where it is except calling them?

I'm the beneficiary.

You could make an infopass appt and go to your actual local office.

I don't have specific info for scheduling this appt, who to talk to, or what to ask, sorry.

You can find it by searching up top, though.

Thanks. :) Actually i read a great piece of advice on what to ask at an infopass meeting in another post like yesterday. Now i see those are pretty much the only options.

I'm the beneficiary.

Don't worry it is just the notification that your file was sent to NBC.NBC process the files pretty quick then other centers so you should feel good about it. Mine was transferred to NBC wright away and it just took 45 days to get approved at NBC.

after that they won't sent it to your local office. The approved file will be sent directly to NVC.

7 week from when you filed I-130 or 7 week after you heard that it will be transferred to local field office.

Maybe it is true in your case. My assumption is that you are with beneficiary overseas. If the petitioner is in US the file do get sent to the local office, at least I see that pattern.
