Hello all VJ members,

My NAO2 was approved on 24th June.

A little background to understand my problem.

There existed an error in the dates in my original BC. And the same dates had been carried over in my school records and passport. Thanks to VJ members, I started working towards it since last month. Now, I have received an order from Magistrate directing Municipality to issue a new BC with the dates matching my school record and passport. Hopefully, I will get a new BC soon.

My question is: Will the embassy ask me the old certificate at the time of interview? Will they ask me why wasn't I issued a BC at the time of my birth or why wasn't it registered? I am from Delhi. Do I need to carry any supporting documents like affidavits along with the new BC?

If any fellow Indians have been in a similar situation please share your experience. As DOB discrepancy is a very common occurrence in India.

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello,

Congrats on your NOA2!! My fiance also just received his BC a few weeks ago. I believe this may be something that the embassies deal with often in India as they only started issuing BC's in like 1990 or something crazy like that. We have a notarized affidavit from his mother stating that the birthdate, name, place, etc was all true. From what I've read about the Delhi embassy, it seems like the more documents you have, the better. We are bringing his school certificate, voters id, passport, and BC. I think the more evidence that supports the new BC, the better. Good luck and please post a review on the New Delhi embassy!

Thank you for the wishes. I will also take all the supporting documents with me. I will post a review about the embassy once I reach that stage.

Is there anyone else who has also gone to the interview with a new birth certificate? Please share your experience. It will benefit many like us.

Thank you.
