I went to my HR department today to let them know that I would need a letter of employment. They asked if it should be made out to a specific agency or just say "To Whom it May Concern." Which would be correct? If it should be made out to an agency, would it be the NVC or the Tokyo Embassy?

Also, how long does the NVC consider a letter of employment good for? If I get one now but don't submit it until sometime next month will it still be acceptable?

the time frame for the letter of employment is fine.. if it was past four months, probably time for a new one

whom it may concern is fine, or you can make it to nvc and dos.. either will work

fwiw,

i got one last year and it came with "to whom it may concern" - the NVC and the Embassy looked at it - no problems.

I did however come with a more up to date one - just in case they were interested - i agree - get one that is dated no more than 3 months ago...

name; salary; date started; company letterhead....

Case upgraded by NVC from F2A to CR1 April 19 2013

Interview June 6th 2013 - APPROVED - case upgraded to IR1 at time of interview based on time married

Visa in hand June 10th 2013

IV fee paid using ELIS June 17th 2013

POE Houston July 15th 2013

GC arrived in mail Aug 12th 2013

SSN card arrived in mail Aug 19 2013 (1 week after applying)

Thanks for the tips. I just put the request in for the letter and included what you both suggest. I'm hoping that since NVC received our file last week we'll get the case number soon and I can submit the AOS sometime in July.
