Ok...we're in the home stretch!! Visa approved and received. CFO will be attended tomorrow. Now it's ticket time. Checking the websites, (Kayak, Expedia, etc,) Delta airlines will likely be the winner. She will fly Manila to Tokyo, then probably Detroit. Is there anything she will need to layover in Japan for a couple of hours? I assume there will be no immigration requirements in Japan as this is just a layover?

Thank you in advance

Moved from K1 Process & Procedures to Working & Traveling During US Immigration forum.

**Organizer hat off**

If she will remain in the same airport in Japan, then there will be no special requirements for Japan since she will not pass through border control.

Please, please check this for yourself. I was told that as long as I remained in the same airport and was only changing planes, I did not need a transit visa for Russia. However, we landed at 0530 and I was asked to stand over to the side along with a couple of other USC from Chicago. A nice gentleman escorted us to a nice door and told us to come back at 0700 to pickup our passports--flight out is at 0830. When 0700 arrived we went back to the door and received our passports. Longest hour and a half of my life wondering if we would ever get or passports back. So the answer was that I did not need a transit visa, but if I did have one I would not have spent an hour and a half waiting to get my passport back.

Typically if you stay in the same airport and have a valid visa to the US, a transit visa for that country is not required even if it is required for someone from the same home country but without the US visa.

I would check this for yourself or only listen to people that have done the same flight using the same home country's passport and US visa.

Dave
