Hello all, and thanks in advance. Assume my fiancé and I marry here in the U.S. tomorrow on her k-1 Visa (I wish; just a hypothetical). About how long would it take to get her EAD/AP card so we can go to her home country and visit her family and still get her back into the U.S.?

Is your fiancée here on the K-1? Then you must marry her in within 90 days of her entry. Your fiancée is eligible to file for the EAD as soon as she enters the U.S. She can only file for the AP simultaneously with the AOS.

While technically true, the EAD you refer to would 1) cost nearly $400, 2) expire with the I-94 (90 days after entry) and 3) take about 90 days to process. That means you would pay money for an EAD you could use for a few days at best. Possible, but foolish.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
