A homeowner who shot a burglar multiple times Monday in Far East Dallas won’t face criminal charges, police said.

But Festus Johnson, 34, who was taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, will face a burglary of a building charge, police said. Johnson, who has previously been convicted on burglary charges in Dallas County, is accused of breaking into the homeowner’s backyard storage shed in the 2700 block of Blyth Drive.

Police said the homeowner woke up to his storage shed’s alarm going off. The homeowner, armed with a .45-caliber handgun, went out to his yard. He told police he spotted Johnson leaving the shed with two of his weed eaters, so he fired six times at Johnson, who then jumped the fence and fled, police said.

The incident was captured by the homeowner’s surveillance video, according to a police report.

Officers responded to the shooting around 5:30 a.m. After receiving a 911 call, authorities found Johnson at a nearby apartment complex suffering from gunshot wounds. Johnson was taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas.

Good job. Protecting ones property with deadly force should be an absolute right. I bet if ol' boy had been in one of the super ** states he would be in big trouble.

By that logic, all the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman threads should be here.
