your wifes father is a lawyer why didnt he help you? He should of saved you a lot of money

Are you under the impressions that every lawyer does the exact same things?

There are countless types of lawyers and just because you get a law degree does not mean it has anything to do with immigration.

That's not to say that he wouldn't have a higher possibility of knowing a good immigration attorney.

However, do you know if this was one he recommended?

Hello, i am waiting my CR2 process which is delayed so I asked my lawyer to send an email to NVC

for more information about my visa then she sent the email...

and now she is charging $600 for this email crying.gif

i would like to know if this is normal in America

my father's wife said that she charges $250 for a 30 minutes conversation ranting33va.gif

and we have already paid $9000 for her to fill out our process

you have already paid to much in my opinion way to much. sent the email yourself is what I would do, but this is your journey not mine so take anything I say with a grain of salt.but why cant you send the email yourself anyway?????

That's really expensive. The way I've seen most do the charging is a flat-fee for either the entire process (application through to visa-in-hand) or payment per part of process (like, a flat fee for doing the petition, a flat fee for doing the visa application etc.). The flat-fee includes them answering your questions and doing due follow-up if there are delays/concerns/corrections. Lawyers we spoke to (and have previously hired and then fired due to incompetence) charged no more then $2000, complete. No hidden extras.

$9000 is a ridiculous amount for something that would cost you, what, a tenth of that to do yourself?

Is it normal in America to pay for legal services? Yes. is it normal in America for lawyers to over-charge? Yes, if they are unscrupulous and think they can get away with it. Is it normal in America to fire your over-charging lawyer? DEFINITELY YES.

I'd fire them and do it yourself.

That is beyond ridiculous! I have paid my lawyer something like $1600 total and she takes care of everything necessary in that price. You need to get a different lawyer.

This is a do it yourself site, 99% of the people here did the entire process on their own, without spending a penny. Way back before I filed my husband's petition, I consulted with an immigration attorney for $100, he answered all of my questions, I didn't hire him and I did it on my own. My husband and I had some major red flags and I still managed to do it by myself. Time to fire the lawyer and do it yourself, unless you have some major immigration issues..

That's not normal at all and that lawyer is sucking money from you in an easy way. I'll tell you about my story and what happened to me. I got married and I applied for green card through a lawyer. He told me you pay me 450 dollars now and the rest when you get your green card. SO I gave him 450 and he sent the file. Well after a little He gets a request for evidence because my wife didn't qualify as a sponsor, he didn't even tell me about it. I was watching my case online and for2 months I was like why is the website telling me that they are waiting for a response from me? I called the lawyer and he said oh it's okay They sent this letter and they said that your wife doesn't qualify for sponsorship. I fixed it and I replied to them and you will see it moving now after 2 weeks nothing so I called him again and he said we should wait more. I called USCIS and they told me we didn't receive nothing and we are waiting for you to respond. The guy I was talking to was nice, I asked him if he could send me a copy of what they sent to the lawyer. At first he said that I should go to my lawyer, I told him the lawyer is not telling me the truth and I doubt he will tell me the truth. So after a week I received the paper from USCIS and it says what they needed. I called the lawyer I argued with him and I ended up firing him. I had 2 weeks left before USCIS denies my application because of no response. The lawyer was trying to make USCIS deny it so he could say hey your file has red flags and I have to charge you more. I filed everything myself and in the interview the officer asked me about the lawyer and I said he didn't do his job so I fired him besides there is nothing to hide so I don't need a lawyer. My point is: Your lawyer is BSing you and you should fire her and maybe take her to court for overcharging you. You can do everything yourself, it's so easy. If your case is straight forward, than no need for a lawyer.

Outrageous fee. Unbelievable. She needs to be reported to AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association).

Fire her and do it yourself or hire one for the average fee of about $1500.

u seems very rich splashing this kind of money. 9k is a lot of money except if you have filed for 3 to 4 children as well. these lawyers are mainly scammer and demanding for 600dols for just a single letter is ridiculous and bear in mind that he or she has collected 9k before
