Update

Just left the embassy.

unable to issue visa under section 214(b)

So I guess unless things drastically change in my circumstances I'll probably not see my kids for quite a few more years

I'm genuinely sorry for your situation. As stated earlier, even though your 10 year bar is done and over with, the threshold for issuing a visa is a lot higher. I do believe you'll be granted a visa eventually, but as stated, under different circumstances.

Hopefully, your childrens' mother will come around at some point and allow your children to visit you. If not in the US, at least in a third country.
