Hello Everyone,

My husband and I married in Istanbul, Turkey on June 21st, 2006. I submitted his I-130 on August 10th, 2007 and I just recieved an I-797E, Notice of Action from USCIS requesting that I send a marriage certificate that indicates that after the marriage ceremony, it was registered or recorded by the country. Also the certificate must be translated to Enlgish. The issue is that I submitted my marriage certificate which is certified as being an international marriage certificate with translation of it on the last page. I've decided to get it translated fully and resend the document but if anyone has gone through the same thing and can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Thanks everyone,

Was the certificate you submitted the one that you received AFTER the marriage was registered with the appropriate governing body?

kim&james,

td44's description of the RFE indicates that the certificate they sent in is not an appropriate certificate. Sending the same certificate again does not address the RFE.

RFE can and usually are for things you have already sent in... redo it again and send it in again!

How I read it, was that it is a certified certificate...

However I will elaborate in that if the op does not have a certified copy from the local government where the ceremony was performed, to get a hold of that and have that translated and send that in.

If it is just the certificate that you received from the person who conducted the marriage cermony then you will need to do the above.

Hi:

Thanks for the reply, yes from my understanding it is a certified copy from the local government. However the document itself is in Turkish with the last page providing the translation information. I guess this isn't enough, I've contacted a certified translator that will do the job. I hope this will do the trick. Thanks again.

[ The issue is that I submitted my marriage certificate which is certified as being an international marriage certificate with translation of it on the last page.

Same thing happened to us with our I-130 petition. We have also send "international marriage certificate" but it seams that one is not valid for them. They need translation in english only. We have also decided to translate it and we are now waiting notice of RFE recipient. I hope that everything is going to be OK this time....
