So my fiance visa was finally went from "READY" (2 weeks) to "ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING" (1 day) to "ISSUED" on the website as of Friday, the question is if anyone would have an idea how long would it take for them to send it through DHL? As of right now there is still no Waybill information on the CSC Visa Information Service website. Today is only Sunday but I'd like to buy our tickets to the USA asap before they keep going up in price. Planning to travel on Saturday next week, June 29th.

2nd Question: As far as Point of Entry. It seems like we will be going through Philadephia as our POE and i was wondering if 1:30 min is enough as overlay (really do not want to miss our connecting flight) also can I wait with him in line through out the whole process. I am a USC and he is entering with a K1visa. Is it ok to stand in line with him the whole time and go through with him at the same time or Im required to go through the USC line and wait for him?

The timeframe of 1:30 is often insufficient to make a connection; especially if the international flight is late arriving.

You can go through the same line as him if you wish.

Was hoping hour n a half would be sufficient :( the other option will cost us $200 more and is through JFK (read horrible reviews about it) and a layover of 4 and a half hours!!!

I've missed regular connections with 1.5 hour layovers in the US just in the regular immigration queue (don't even get me started on my nearly 2 hour queue in Dallas last trip... grrr). I would see if you can find one with more like a 3 or 4 hour layover. Better sat around bored in the airport for a while than scrambling to make a connection or re-booking.

Congratulations on the visa!

to the OP:

While Philly is not going to be AS busy as NY for immigration or as a general rule as an airport, you should also consider just the sheer logistics of as some have said above, missing you connection flight due to a late international flight arrival, or a lengthier than normal immigration process (never mind that your are actually going to POE!), or that you will need to process your luggage too... As these will be your first port of entry for customs, you will have no choice but to retrieve your luggage and go through the customs line too... that can take time, then you will likely be submitting your luggage again - again more time, and then going to your gate... remember you need to be at your gate with time to spare - the gate will close ahead of the actual time.

I suggest you find a way to get atleast 3 hours of layover time....will be worth your peace of mind - trust me.

Edit:

Oh...and regards your other question - allow 2 to 3 weeks to receive a passport/visa and other paperwork. That may not be what you want to hear- but it could take that long.

You should not make flight plans until you have your visa in hand and have checked it for correctness :)

1. It takes two days for DHL to pick up the visa after issued. When DHL picks it up, the waybill will show that it is in route for delivery.

2. No, that is not enough time for POE. You have to take into account how many flights are coming in at the same time you are. CBP is going to look at all your paperwork, and they do an interview. Remember, how long you wait when you land in JA. I know I have been in line for a short as 30 mins to 4 hours. Also, different POE have different rules for K-1. Make sure you read the POE reviews for the airport.

So just to update everyone. Our visa was issued last friday and on Wed we got the waybill # through an email send to the beneficiary. Today Thursday we picked up the visa at DHL at 2pm, was gonna catch a 4pm flight to Miami but they said the flight was full, when i checked later they kind of lied cos there were still more seats online. Will reccomend buying your ticked online instead of the airport they are not that very capable of doing their jobs. Well we will be flying tomorrow Friday instead w a 2:30 hour delay between flights in Plidadelphia so i hope that plenty time to get through immigration. So thats that so far so good, so exausted of this whole K1 visa process cant wait to get home w my man!!
