Divorce her in the US. You cite abandonment as the issue.

Once divorced, she has to immediately file to remove the condition on her green card. If she fails to remove the condition, her LPR status will expire.

Inform USCIS that your wife left you shortly after getting her green card.

This is not about revenge. This is about protecting yourself. Remember, she is still your wife and her bills could be your bills. And you did sign the I-864, so you don't want to be stuck reimbursing the government if she decide to get some mean tested benefits.

My friend You are in Love .

Questions that only you can answer

Are you willing to wait until she clear her confusion?

Her explanation of been afraid and don’t like the USA .

( That is a common mechanism of protection that a human been do as they go into a big change in life, Latino Culture Specially ladies are really close to her family specially in COLOMBIA that is w.out taking into account the language barrier)

Do you feel that her statement is truth ?

How can she be In Virginia W. her friend?( Maybe I’m miss reading this one , Contact her friend just ones to verify )

My Advice due to your feelings

a) Give her 1 Month don’t follow her ,Don’t try to contact her ; Let her contact you . (" Trust me on this after a Month of feeding a friend and if the friend doesn’t contribute on $$ to the house the situation will get old quick ")

If she doesn’t contact you then go to USCIS and report the Issue . Divorce in the US is less expensive that been w. somebody that doesn’t want to be w. you .

Uncontested maybe 2,000 or less total including court fees .She doesn’t even have to be in the US . If you don’t have any kids w. her is easy.

I wish you the best I can see you really Love this girl and hopefully she is just really scare .

Good Luck

As far as getting a divorce you can file here without any issues.

You can call the USCIS regarding the issue but right now there is nothing they can do but maybe note her file in the system since she already has her permanent residency; however, it is only good for 2 years and she will need to remove conditions on her own. This is where she's going to have a hard time because she will need to prove that she entered the marriage in good faith and that the marriage didn't work out. With you filing for divorce (not her) and the USCIS receiving a call from you informing them of the situation, she's really going to have a hard time removing the conditions on her permanent residency by herself.

This is something a lot of immigrants don't thing about, they don't realize that the permanent residency they get is only valid for 2 years for that same reason, to avoid corruption and then they see that after two years their legal status is invalid. Her problem, not yours.
