its saying we need to complete DS-156, which is a NON immigrant visa form for K1 visas. this doesnt make sense., why?

10/2011 - met online

The K1 visa is a non-immigrant visa. This just means that it doesn't grant immigrant status, and you have to apply for that status (meaning apply for the green card) after you're here and married. It can be confusing, because applying for this visa is the first step in the immigration process. It's just terminology.

why it doesn't make sense? you are fiance, you are NOT immigrant, k1 is temporarily visa that grant you access to US to get married, it is not a visa to immigrate and live there, after you got married you file new petition to adjust your status
