Will it be a problem to change my name after case complete?

I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be a problem to change my passport now after my case complete at NVC? I am waiting on an interview date. Recently I have changed all my Canadian documents to my married name....I have hung onto my passport as I need to cross the border on weekends. If I change my name now; will it be enough time before my interview to get the change to the Consulate? Will I have any problems or delays at my interview or medical since all my CR130 docs are in my maiden name and my passport will be in my married name? any advice is greatly appreciated

personally I would save the name change until you get to the states because all of your paperwork is in your current last name.

I do not have any experience with this, but that is my first thought.

If you're going to change your name do it ASAP. You may have to expedite your passport back to you. There isn't a problem changing it because you can bring your old passport to the interview to show you're the same person. Also do it in Canada because it's cheaper and the expedite option is there vs in the USA where it costs extra to change the passport and then $450 to fix the green card unless you do it during ROC or renewal or when you apply for citizenship.

I also believe passport prices rise the July 1st, 2013 so you might want to apply for the change before the end of June in order to avoid paying the price increase.

Ah yes I forgot about that part. It was annoying!

Actually it was more annoying about 6 years ago when you needed a professional who had known you for 2 years to sign the darn thing and your pictures! How many doctors were tied up with that?!

The two year rule -sucked- when I had to renew my passport. I am lucky that my uncle was an accountant, and the people in his office (almost all of them qualified) knew me. Talk about a pain! I would recommend doing an expedited passport change now, since it's faster, easier, and a heck of a lot more certain to get to you intact. The last thing you want to do is try to change your passport after you receive your green card -- that's several hundred dollars all around to replace the ID, no matter that you've got a legitimate reason to do it! I actually kept my Canadian passport in my maiden name. :/
