Frequency of K-1 Interviews

Hi VJ family! My congressman's representative e-mailed me on my NOA2 day letting me know what to expect next. At the end of the email it said "Interview dates are scheduled the second week of each month, so you might have a bit of a wait. They are allowed to schedule only a certain number of fiancé interviews per month."

I know the Sydney consulate schedules K-1 interviews on Tuesdays, but is it really once a month?

Thanks for clarification!

No they do them every Tuesday of the month, in the mornings only. If you look around on the Australian K-1 timelines you will see that there are people getting interviewed pretty much every Tuesday. Good thing is at the moment they seem to be moving pretty quickly, most people in June have gotten a reply to their packet 3 within 2 weeks and their interviews withing 3 weeks of that.

Thanks for the info.

We are currently awaiting NOA2 but desperately trying to prepare ahead of time for a Sydney interview.

Would you say that a time frame to interview of 9 weeks from NOA2 is about right?

Also do you know if its possible to call NVC once NOA2 is received and get a SYD visa processing receipt number so we can book medical? . I know that others on VJ have but i think they are mainly from the Phillipines and need the NVC receipt number to book their interviews.

thanks

You should probably call NVC every week day from about 7 days after your NOA2, they aren't the friendliest of people but you need to call every day otherwise you won't know your SYD case number. You will need that case number on the day of your actual medical, but you should book your medical beforehand you don't need the number to do that. As far as booking your interview, that process does not happen in Australia, the consulate will contact you with an interview date once they have received your packet 3 with all supporting documents. You can get a copy of the packet 3 from the canberra embassy website and start filling it out you want and start gathering your financial support documents for the I-134 now. And yes I suppose 9-12 weeks from NOA2 for interview is probably realistic for Sydney.

Great info thanks very much for that.

I will get a copy of packet 3 from the canberra website and start working on it.

I will start calling NVC for the SYD number 7 days after NOA2 .
