Dinha,

Did you have to go to the bank and sign something so the money would be in your account??

Just wondering, cuz I might need to wire some money to my own Itaú account later on, after I move to the US....

I always find cheaper tickets online....

As always YMMV :)

What does it even mean????

"your mileage may vary" (I had to google it, not like it's common knowledge)

Hi all,

I am going to buy a ticket for my girl in Rio. Since the ticket price is cheaper down there, I am going to wire her some money.

What's the quickest, safest, most convenient, cheapest way to wire money to Rio? Anyone done it before?

Thank you all!

We've been using Western Union with no problems. Within 5 minutes of getting the transfer approved the money is ready for her to pick up. And she lives in a dinky little town (Cascavel) outside of Foz do Iguacu.

How much do you need to pay for Western Union wiring the money?

it depends on how much you are sending. you can ask and get the range that cost x amount. sometimes just sending $1 less will save you more than a few bucks.

I use Xoom.com. It has been an easy way to wire money for me. My fiance has a bank account at Itau in Rio. The fee depends on how much money you are transferring and how you are transfering it. I use my visa debit card, and for example...up to $200 it costs me $8. There is a cheaper way that would cost $5..but I have been too lazy to do it that way.

Also...I just booked my flight from San Fran to Sao Paulo round trip for $675! LAN.com has a special right now originating out of San Fran and another city..can't remember which. You have to buy your ticket by Nov 30, for flying between now and March. But there are some blocked off days in December and early January that you can't fly.

Hope some of this helps you guys. I can't wait for my January flight! I have not seen my girl since September...that has been too long for me!
