This sounds like our situation as well, told we were approved at the interview on the 22nd of October, case status still unchanged and nothing received in the post. We have scheduled an Infopass appointment for the 20th of November to get a passport stamp as well as inquire about the status.

Peter:

Just had my first status update after the interview. It looks like the IO finally requested the transfer of my I-130 to the local office. I do see a pattern here based on the previous posts. I believe they do look up your case a few days before your Infopass appointment. That's why it's important to schedule one if you have been approved but have not received any status update or mail 2-3 weeks after the interview. Please keep me updated on your case.

Initial Review

On November 13, 2013, we transferred this case to your USCIS local field office for additional processing. Hi R & M! The IO didn't have your I-130 file at the time of your interview?

Hi Sunnysummer! That's a good question, which I indeed asked this morning at Infopass. The IO at Infopass told me that the IO who interviewed me should have had it, otherwise I wouldn't have been approved... but she also said that not having the file could be the reason I hadn't been approved in the system yet (which is odd, because the interviewer never mentioned that...).

Anyway, she tried to but couldn't talk to the IO because he was busy interviewing people today. The result is: no stamp on my passport today, because even though "approved", the system does not have that information... I was given a "come back form" and told to return in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, while I was there, she sent a detailed message to the IO about my case. The message informed him that she had seen the approval letter the IO had given me but that no status update followed. She also did include the odd "transfer" update I received. She asked him to follow-up on my case.

About an hour ago, the I-130 status changed to confirm that the case was received by the local office (not yet approved)... I guess I'll have to wait some more. Hopefully by the end of the day I will get an approval...

That transfer update was totally odd. I received that exact status update when our I-130 was transferred from VSC to NSC. One update that they are transferring it and another when they had transferred it already.

We are also waiting for our approval. At the time of our interview, our IO didn't have our I-130 file on hand. 3 weeks and counting. I'm planning on scheduling for an infopass.

Hope we get our approval soon!

Hi R&M,

Yes, we were successful at our Infopass appointment. The officer we spoke with said there was no problem with the application, it was approved and is just waiting to have the card produced. He did say that there is some sort of backlog in producing the cards, which we thought was strange as others are reporting receiving them in a week after the interview. But in any event he stamped my husbands passport so we can travel if we wish, and we have now received 2 emails for the i-485 card production and then decision, the i-130 is now at approved status. I think the initial officer didn't update the case correctly so it wasn't updated in the system, and by going in for the appointment they did what hadn't been done.

We shall see if we get the welcome letter and card sooner than the January date they told us today.

Hi R&M,

Just wanted to let you know my husband has received his PRC in the post yesterday, so the Infopass process worked out for us, going from nothing to everything approved and completed in a week. The only thing I can think of is that the original officer didn't do what he was supposed to and all it took was us going in and asking what was up.

So congrats to you as well, you should see the card shortly I would guess.

Peter
