Is your letter dated? If not, I'd probably just leave it. I didn't leave mine this late out of choice. I asked at the beginning of the month, and my GP said to hand a letter in requesting everything at the beginning of this week and she'll definitely get it done this week for me. So I take it in Monday, she is only in Monday and Tuesday and buggers off for the rest of the week, and the Surgery can't give me any answers as to when it'll be done. I phoned up shouting at them 4 times this week and supposedly the doctor will be calling me back on Monday. >:0(

I think ill just chance it. Do u know if we can actually have our medical before we have sent packet 3 back? Or do we have to send the packet back before we can actualy do the medical?

Yeah, I wouldn't bother getting a new one, honestly. It's up to you though. You can have your medical before you've sent packet 3 back, yeah. You can even book it as soon as you have your case number, it's just generally advised that you don't until you have packet 3 so you know that London have received and logged your file, and they don't just get medical results for a case they don't even have yet and lose them. As soon as I have my doctor's letter, I'm gonna phone and book mine, but I'm certain I'll get packet 3 before the medical date and probably have sent off packet 3. We're just debating sending them all off in one go (including DS-2001) after the medical, or sending them off when we get it and sending DS-2001 after. It depends when we receive it and what date we get I suppose, but either way, doesn't really matter.

Oh and it is VERY annoying.. She said to me on the 1st, "Don't send it in next week as I'm holiday, do it the week after and I'll definitely get it done that week" as I stressed the urgency of it. Then she buggers off and apparently she only works on Monday and Tuesday now. I've called them numerous times complaining and asked them if they will reimburse my cancellation fee if I have to cancel a medical or if they will reimburse a flight ticket if I have to purchase a new one because of them delaying me. Not surprised though. This is the same doctors that when I had chickenpox which led to a throat infection, ear infection and chest infection and I couldn't breathe, and NHS Direct said it was an emergency and I needed to see someone within the hour, they said "Don't have any out of hours doctors covering your area, go to hospital if it's urgent". So I had to go the hospital. >:0( NHS Doctors.. meh.

yea honestly they are ridiculous. You should ask to speak to the practice manager and ask if he/she will compensate you for the cancellation costs. My doctor recommended i have a blood pressure monitor attached to my arm for 24hrs because she doesnt think my BP is good enough to pass the medical, and that way she can write a letter to knightsbridge saying ive worn it and on a 24hr avenrage its not considered at a dangerous level.

So.... i waited one month for an appointment (as they only have one instrument!), steve and i came back early from the wedding to make it (paying over £100 to change my great western train ticket), and when i got there they told me oh sorry we double booked u, someone is already wearing it, but we can squeeze u in in 6 weeks. was NOT a great first experience of the NHS for Steve. He was gobsmacked at the poor quality of service.

So im going to be attending my medical nervous about a variety of things! But the worst that can happen is I need to get a few docs faxed over from my doctors which may delay it a while, but its not like we have a wedding date or anything, i thnik im stressing over stupid things again, but its a woman thing.

Hi - another London filer - what letter from the doctor do we need? Is it just the Vaccine records? I thought you could just schedule your medical as soon as you got a case number :-/

U just need a letter if you answer Yes to particular questions on the questionnaire. U also need your vaccination record yeah. Id check out the questionnaire in advance and see if you answer yes to any of the questions.

And yeah u can strictly speaking book ur medical as soon as u have ur case number, but London wont have the package as soon as u have the case number it takes them a few days to receive it so theres a slim chance ur medical results could be sent back to london when the NVC still hold the case and london dont even have it yet

So confusing isnt it!

Hey has Chris booked his flight yet?

Yeah, Chris is coming up on Tuesday morning :). I'm staying over at Heathrow on Monday night and picking him up Tuesday morning, and he will be here until December 10th to give us time to finish the process and hand in my month's notice. That's almost 6 months from NOA2, so we hope we've left plenty of time.

That's ridiculous. Chris was shocked as well, he said you'd never get treatment like that in the US. Though as I said to him, I suppose because in the US, doctors have to work for their money and they profit from it so there's more focus on service like any business so you go back, whereas here, they can do what they like and still get paid. Have you managed to sort it now? My BP will be high at the medical for sure, but my blood pressure is always checked when I go to get my birth control and has been for years, so I hope I'll be ok. Mine is just a letter about my mental health and a copy of my vaccination records.

I know the feeling, lol. I stress over a lot of stupid things. Currently I am stressing over whether to continue to pay National Insurance and what will happen with that and social security at retirement age. Bit far away I know, I'm only 22... XD.
