I noticed that folks are waiting on different visas so I was hopeful to hear from only fiancé visa folks... How long before you got your case number from the nvc???

Have you recieved your case # yet? What did your copy say, did it list a consulate? Did it say that it's been sent directly to the consulate or NVC?

I finally got my NOA2 in the mail....my question is.....must you call the NVC or DOS to get the case number or do they send you a letter stating the number??

AND do we really need the case number for anything?(forms, etc)--------other than following the case.

This part of the "journey" is really confusing to me :(

Need case number to pay fees at embassy, also to schedule medical.. You can call to get number faster. It takes 8 days to get number from time TSC or other service center sends case to NVC.

how did you know that they shipped your case to NVC?????

Got case update on USCIS web site, stating my case was forwarded to NVC.

ok thanks.....im a texas transfer with the rest of you guys.......i got an RFE and had to deal with that, but it was fast to get approved.....3 day approval time from TSC getting my RFE response...................i was hoping that them sending the cases to NVC would have been faster by now, but i guess n

Yes, they will send a letter to you, but it may take a week or more until you get it. By calling, you can shave about a week off of your waiting time.

I have been calling evry day since Wednesday so far and nothing. I am thinking they are waiting on sending a bunch :( We were approved on July 24th so I don't think it has gone over yet. Besides they ahven't updated anything onl8ne although UCSIS says that they are showing it as Post decision activity. I am trying to be patient but it is so hard. I hate waiting for anything.

You guys are lucky. Our case left NVC on 23rd of July and still Consulate hasn't received it. I just called DOS only to find out the same thing. Sydney consulate hasn't received the case yet. More waiting...

That's weird. I tried tracking via DHL and with reference of July 23, this is the tracking:

With reference of July 22, it was picked up on Jul 23 and arrived on Jul 26.

Maybe the Australian embassy takes a while to scan it as received for some reason, but if they sent it out on Jul 23, it should already be in the building there.

I know vbtwo, I have also tried both the waybill numbers and have been tracking it ever since NVC told me that they have sent it out but for whatever reason NVC still hasn't changed the status and/or Sydney Consulate still hasn't entered it into the system. Let's see what happens next as none of them seem to be anymore helpful at this point.

I am so happy - I got pack 3 today and already send back all of the paperwork - I payed the fee and had my medical so I guess there is nothing else to do anymore till I get pack 4 and my interview appointment. I am so happy and relieved - The wait after NOA2 was so much harder then between NOA1 and NOA2. Hope you all hear something from the embassy soon as well!!!

I just wanted to update everyone on the status of our case. I have been with my fiance in Ukraine for her birthday and I wasn't able to call NVC for a week. So I called yesterday and they said that they sent they recieved our case and sent it. When I tracked it it said that it arrived at the embassy and was ready. Our case was transferred to NVC on July 21 and on July 23 they assigned the case number. On July 30 our case was ready. It was awesome to be with my fiance when I got the news it was ready! And even more awesome is that she scheduled her interview and I WILL be able to go with her before I go back to the U.S.! I'm beyond happy and the 6 months of waiting just makes it sweeter.

Once approved - NOA2 at TSC, it can take up to 3 weeks before TSC releases your case and sends it to NVC. Once released, and sent to NVC, it takes 8 days to show up at NVC and be able to get your case number.
