Hi - another London filer - what letter from the doctor do we need? Is it just the Vaccine records? I thought you could just schedule your medical as soon as you got a case number :-/

Nothing, usually. I need a letter because I had a brief bout of depression last year and depression/self harm when I was a dumb 15/16 year old. I need a letter saying I'm clear of any issues and no threat to myself or others. Usually, if you've no other issue listed on the medical questionnaire, you just need your vaccination records and to fill out the medical questionnaire. You can schedule it as soon as you have the case number, though it's advised to wait until London has logged your file and/or received packet 3.

U just need a letter if you answer Yes to particular questions on the questionnaire. U also need your vaccination record yeah. Id check out the questionnaire in advance and see if you answer yes to any of the questions.

And yeah u can strictly speaking book ur medical as soon as u have ur case number, but London wont have the package as soon as u have the case number it takes them a few days to receive it so theres a slim chance ur medical results could be sent back to london when the NVC still hold the case and london dont even have it yet

So confusing isnt it!

Ah thanks for the help! I actually already filled in the questionnaire and didn't have any 'yes's, and I'm picking up my Vaccination record this week so that's all good. By the way we have the same NOA2 date! You're so lucky you got yours sent on, we emailed our congressman's immigration case worker last night but she hasn't got back to us yet (weekend, of course!)

Yeah, Chris is coming up on Tuesday morning smile.png. I'm staying over at Heathrow on Monday night and picking him up Tuesday morning, and he will be here until December 10th to give us time to finish the process and hand in my month's notice. That's almost 6 months from NOA2, so we hope we've left plenty of time.

That's ridiculous. Chris was shocked as well, he said you'd never get treatment like that in the US. Though as I said to him, I suppose because in the US, doctors have to work for their money and they profit from it so there's more focus on service like any business so you go back, whereas here, they can do what they like and still get paid. Have you managed to sort it now? My BP will be high at the medical for sure, but my blood pressure is always checked when I go to get my birth control and has been for years, so I hope I'll be ok. Mine is just a letter about my mental health and a copy of my vaccination records.

I know the feeling, lol. I stress over a lot of stupid things. Currently I am stressing over whether to continue to pay National Insurance and what will happen with that and social security at retirement age. Bit far away I know, I'm only 22... XD.

Lol its definitely a female thing! Steve doesnt seem to worry about anything EVER! So u have high BP too? U think it will be a problem?

Neither of us smoke and we are both young so i dont think wed be classed as high risk right? Thats what im relying on. I dont think they could fail us based on high BP alone. No i still havent sorted it, i cant wait all that time for an appointment ill probably be married by the time they can finally fit me in.

You plan on still being here in december? What month are u aiming for to get married?

We've planned December to allow my month's notice at work and any potential delays we might have. We didn't want to risk having to book another ticket for him. We're aiming to get married in January. I don't think we'd be high risk. I'm not worried about my BP at all to be honest, I'm only worried about the mental health stuff. My BP has always been fine, if anything even on the low side at times. Nurse has told me numerous times it's ideal. Still not sure either what to put for tobacco. I'll probably put yes but explain when there that it's literally been a handful of times, and even then it was cigars sometimes which aren't inhaled and I'm not a smoker. I don't think it really matters because we can explain it all while there anyway. I'm a bit worried about my chest x-ray because I had flu a few weeks ago, and I'm still coughing clear stuff up. I had a big course of antibiotics after (3 x 500mg tablets a day) incase it was a chest infection so I'm clear for the medical, but I'm still coughing up stuff. I think it might be a bit because of hayfever and sinus drainage, but I sure as hell don't want them to say they can see something on the chest x-ray and make me go back later.

Nor me. I hate interviews and I hate going to the doctors, so I'm dreading both. I've covered as much as I can though, I listed in bullet point format everything I needed her to include on the letter taking it directly from the DoS website re: mental health. She's not the brightest of people so I wanted to leave no room for error.

Want to just get it out of the way now. Nerve wracking now I have a case # and my packet 3 will most likely arrive next week or early the week after, so my medical is imminent!:(

At least you don't have to worry about work then! I want to work as long as I can, leaving a couple of weeks before my leaving date so I can save as much as possible for when I move. I hope you get your October wedding. We're not terribly fussed when we go as long as it's before Christmas as we'll be together anyway. Just more time to show him around the UK.
