Hey everyone, we are filing for a CR-1 and are wondering if my wife needs to get the police background check done now or should we wait? We are going to be sending in our g325a's and i-130 soon and I don't see it requested anywhere on there.

Someone told us to hurry up and get it because it may take a while, but I dont know at what point we need it.

Its too early for the police certificate .. its gonna be requested at the final step of the nvc national visa center after you submit your iv application and have to be submitted with the civil documentations ..

Good luck :)

Ok thank you for the information. That explains why I didn't see it anywhere.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Thanks!

Yes they are correct . Police reports come at NVC. Here read the NVC filers post #1 and Post #2 to know all involved in the next phase after USCIS approval.

You wouldn't want it now because most have short expirations like a month and 3 months so you need to wait until you are at NVC months down the road.
