Hey everybody. I have a quick question regarding the K-1 visa. My fiancée (who is from Vietnam) and i have put in the paperwork for her to come to the United States next year. We anticipate her coming sometime around April or May 2014. I know that once she arrives in United States she has 90 days to get married. I know that afterward she has to apply for a green card. However, we would like to have an official ceremony in Vietnam for her family. The marriage in United States would simply be legal whilst the marriage in Vietnam would be the ceremony. However, my question is can she leave the United States after having getting married in the US But before getting her green card? So for example, if she comes to the US in April 2014 is married to weeks later, can we travel back to Vietnam and then back to the US before she receives a green card? THANKS FOR ANY RESPONSES.

if she wants to leave before issuance of a green card she will need an approved advance parole

if she leaves before greencard and advanced parole, you will be forced to start over

When you file for adjustment of status, you will also file for the work authorization(EAD) and advance parole(AP). The EAD/AP combo card takes about 2-3 months to receive after filing.
