Change in Embassy

Hi all,

My fiance and I got approved on April 19th, received NOA2 in mail shortly after. I tried to call NVC in time for them to be able to change the Embassy that my fiance will interview at, but they had already sent it to the original embassy in Madrid... We were told to contact the Embassy that we "want" our interview at and they will request the files from the original embassy. We did this and got confirmation, via email,May 23rd, from Madrid that they had sent our file to the London Embassy and London would contact us for further instructions....

We haven't heard anything since then..(May 23rd)

Anyone have any experience with this...? Not sure how long it will take London Embassy to process our files and send "packet 3?" (I provided the Madrid embassy with the correct mailing address as well, so hoping that they forwarded that onto the London Embassy.)

I did, however, contact my local congressman who is more than happy to contact the London Embassy on our behalf, but he said it could take up to two weeks to get a response. That was one week ago, today.

Any advice?

Positive thinking!

Read this to know what the procedure is for London. It has a link to their website instructions and forms http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/?p=5137390

Read what the letter says from the copy of it in this post. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/?p=5180175

I would start preparing the documents. A call to the Dept of State might give you an update. They know what the embassies have done. They would know if London had logged in your case. Also ask them if your case number remains a Madrid number. I think so because it is the NVC that generates the numbers and it's not going back to the US and the NVC. DOS 202-663-1225

Book the medical exam. They will ask your LND case number and you may have to explain why yours doesn't start with LND.

There is a list of things to help you get prepared here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/. The police certificate link is wrong and is corrected down the page.

As soon as the Dept of State gives you an indication that London has your file, then submit your forms, with or without receiving the actual letter.

ya, check in with DoS Hotline, things go fast when the IV Unit has 'opened the casefile'.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

and, I contacted the DOS, they said that the letter was sent to my fiance on May 27th..... He never did receive it, I even verified the correct address. We contacted the London Embassy this afternoon, and they told us to do exactly what NIch-Nick told us to do! So thank you for your help everyone. Much appreciated! He will book his medical tomorrow and send his paperwork tomorrow as well!

Thank you so much for your help!

Yay me. Hahaha

Glad you got back on track. The case file is open if London sent a letter of instruction to you. It means they got the file in their hands and entered it into the computer as received. Did you ask if you keep the Madrid case number that was originally assigned to you?
