Republicans Join Dems to Protect Food Stamps!

62 Republicans provided the margin of victory to protect food stamps! The proposed legislation would have cut food stamp allotments to people that get heating assistance, even though they have no heating bills, so that they autmatically qualify for increased food stamps.

The obvious inhumanity of this was apparent enough for 62 Republicans to continue the program and protect farm welfare, heating assistance for people with no heating bills and food stamps.

Everyone has to eat!

What's not to like?

Should they cut out some of the junk foods, I think so...but the lobbyist would kill that.

I can understand starving the parents (not really because they'd resort to something more impactful to get food anyway.) but come on, we waste money on missiles that are never used, lawmakers who make no laws and farmers that don't grow crops...we surely can feed some people.

Since hunger is one of those things you can't ignore, I doubt you want starving people all over the country finding ways to feed themselves by any means necessary? And since we want everyone armed in the US, remember a hungry armed person is lethal all the time.

Some people abuse it, but a vast majority are just getting fed.

As long as you don't mind the government breeding kids into poverty to create a voting future welfare class. So everyone who works can be poorer. As far as I and the majority of those working people who created America think. Getting pregnant on welfare to get more benefits should be illegal. You get pregnant. You lose your welfare and medical. Federal taxes and welfare didn't exist when this country was created. And neither did the class war the government created for free handouts .

I love this program.

I do not care what foods are covered because the food stamp program is like money in your pocket. If you cannot buy potato chips with food stamps, you by something else and buy the potato chips with the money you save by using food stamps for other stuff.

You give someone a lot of money and then tell them what they can't buy. I cannot buy plane tickets to Ukraine with food stamps... OK, but I can buy plane tickets to Ukraine with the money I do not spend on food by using food stamps.

Arguing the fine points of what particular item you can buy is silly. Many, but not all, recipients can also get cash from their EBT cards...so there goes that plan.

This is an essential program supported by everyone that cares about humans.

Fortunately to protect innocent people from bigotted RWNJs who think people that need a little help are terrible, the program is now officially called "SNAP" Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and there are no longer any "food stamps". People use an EBT card, similar to a debit card, to pay their food bill so that there can be no "stigma" attached to them by racists, RWNJs, and others who do not care about their fellow man the way liberals do.
