I wanted to try posting again because my first post was too long and I think that is why I am not getting any response. If there's a rule about posting the same topic twice, please delete the other one.

After my fiance's interview yesterday we were put in administrative processing. I have done some research and the reasons that this usually happens are either because of a document problem or they don't think the relationship is bona fide.

The only document issue could be his birth certificiate. He gave secondary evidence but could not get a letter that is was not registered. He wrote a letter explaining the situation and they would not take that letter. They did not mention anything about the birth certificate in the interview. He has applied to get a birth certificate but it will take a little time.

I'm worried that they think our relationship is not bona fide. They did not look at any of the evidence. They had three issues come up during the interview. First was that we met in the Ohio chat room on Yahoo Messenger. The second was why we are not getting married in India. The third was because he has not told his sisters about the marriage (but he has told his friends).

They did not keep his passport after the interview. Should we be worried about this? Is there anything that I can do ? I read most cases are resolved in 60 days and that you can't contact them before that. Is that correct? Any help or suggestions are really appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. From what you wrote,I can see many red flags? Why his sisters are not aware of his engagement?in the CO eyes, something is fishy there.the fact that you've met online is not really a big deal but you should've tons of proofs to back it up especially statements from family members on both side.He made it seems like the relationship is not genuine.

It sounds not genuine because he did not tell his sisters? I don't understand why it should matter who he decides to tell. He has told several of his friends. The relationship is between me and him. Do you think they will ask for more evidence of our relationship? They never looked at the evidence that he took to the interview.

Twice the CO asked why he was in the Ohio chat room. Both times he said there was no reason and he was just surfing through all the chat rooms. I don't think it should matter, but the CO made a big deal about it.

That's strange! Especially as so many people meet online these days. Maybe your CO follows old traditions and didn't personally approve of it!

That's probably the case. My fiance told me that he was interviewed by an Indian which is something else I don't understand. Or they think he was looking for an American because it was an American chat room.

I guess it's their job to suspect people of that. You just need to do everything you can to convince them that your relationship is genuine and you aren't like those other people that fraud relationships for citizenship.
