Hi I desperately need some help,

We recieved our NOA1 on 19 February 2013, and our office is to be Vermont, as their processing times on the website are showing 5 months I thought I would call them today using telephone number 001 603 334 0700 I gave them my reciept number and they said they had not recieved our application, they asked for our Notice date and they said that 15 days after that date 19 february they should have recieved my file,and as they had not we need to send a email to NVC Research to investigate as it would appear our file has gone missing. I have sent this and they advised it will be 15 days until they have to answer and I have to wait, but they said if the file is found the process starts at the beginning. We really thought we were 4 months down the line

I am absolutly devastated and dont know what to do, can anyone help? I am the UK person and my fiancee is US

You are still waiting on the petition to be approved. It can't go to the National Visa Center until the USCIS has approved.

The number you called is NVC. When they asked your notice date, they meant approval notice. You gave them the day your file started, so that has caused some confusion on your part thinking your file got lost. I believe it is still at USCIS in Vermont. The number for information from USCIS is 800-375-5283.

You are on step 3, but you called step 5 and of course they gave you the wrong answer because you told them you finished step 4 back in February. The five month processing time means you should get from Step 3 to Step 4 in five months. It hasn't been 5 months yet.

thank you so much, I got myself into a real panic when vermont told me it was lost, I called the USCIS and they were most helpful they have assured me we will hear back within 30 days as that is when our 5 months is up.
